Wilson (hand) has appeared in each of Triple-A Lehigh Valley's first three games of the season, going 2-for-9 with a double and an RBI. Wilson exited the Phillies' March 21 Grapefruit League game after being hit on the left hand by a pitch and was optioned to the minors a day later, but he avoided any sort of major injury and was deemed good to go for the start of the Triple-A season.... Phillies' Weston Wilson: Sent to minor-league camp
The Phillies optioned Wilson (hand) to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday. Wilson exited Thursday's Grapefruit League game after being hit by a pitch on the left hand, and he'll make his way to minor-league camp a day later. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, though the 29-year-old was scheduled to undergo an X-ray.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Weston Wilson: Exits after HBP
Wilson was removed from Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays after getting hit in the left hand by a pitch, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Manager Rob Thomson said Wilson went in for imaging after getting hit and everything looked good, but Wilson will still receive an X-ray on his hand just to be safe. Wilson is slashing .241/.361/.414 through 36 plate appearances this spring, and there's a good chance he returns to Triple-A to begin the season.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Weston Wilson: Scores run on walk
Wilson went 1-for-1 and scored a run after drawing a walk during Philadelphia's 2-1 Grapefruit League loss to New York on Monday. Given Wilson's versatility, the 29-year-old could have a chance at making the Opening Day roster. Through 21 at-bats in the spring, Wilson is hitting .286, and he has speed as evidenced by his 32 steals in 125 games at Triple-A last season. However, with the Phillies relatively healthy entering the regular season, it's unclear whether Wilson will start the 2024 campaign on the big-league roster.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Weston Wilson: Excluded from NLDS roster
Wilson isn't on the Phillies' roster for the NLDS, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Wilson was listed on the Phillies' roster for the wild-card series, but he didn't appear in either game versus the Marlins. He will be replaced by Michael Lorenzen as Philadelphia opts to carry 13 pitchers.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Weston Wilson: Swipes two bags Saturday
Wilson went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets. Getting the start at third base and batting seventh, Wilson flashed the speed that allowed him to rack up 32 steals in 38 attempts over 125 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season. The 29-year-old utility player couldn't repeat his success in the nightcap however, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts while seeing time at first and second base. With the Phillies already locked into the No. 4 seed in the National League playoffs and set to host a wild-card series beginning Tuesday, Wilson could get one more start Sunday as the team rests its regulars ahead of the postseason.... Phillies' Weston Wilson: Optioned to Triple-A
Wilson was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday. He's clearing out to make room for Trea Turner's return from paternity leave. Wilson drew a walk in his lone plate appearance during his brief stint in the big leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Weston Wilson: Sent down Sunday
Wilson was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley following Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Nationals, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Wilson spent two weeks with the major-league club but played in just four games and went 2-for-6 with a homer, three runs, an RBI and a stolen base. He should have the chance to see more consistent playing time with the minor-league club.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Weston Wilson: Fills up box score in debut
Wilson went 1-for-1 with a solo homer, two additional runs scored and a steal in Wednesday's 7-0 victory over the Nationals. It was a debut to remember for the 28-year-old rookie after he spent nearly seven years in the minors. Wilson launched a 429-foot solo homer off MacKenzie Gore in his first MLB at-bat before reaching twice via walks and adding a stolen base. Wilson posted some intriguing numbers with Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season, batting .260 with 25 home runs and 23 steals across 100 games. Still, he'll likely be limited to a platoon role with the Phillies while Brandon Marsh (knee) is sidelined.... See More ... See Less -
Phillies' Weston Wilson: Batting seventh in MLB debut
Wilson is starting in left field and batting seventh in his major-league debut Wednesday versus the Nationals. Wilson was called up to the Phillies on Sunday after posting a shiny .884 OPS with 25 homers and 23 steals through 100 games this season for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He'll probably play sparingly, though, and can safely be ignored in most fantasy formats. Kyle Schwarber is getting a rare day off Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Weston Wilson: Healthy for spring camp
Wilson (neck) will start at third base and bat ninth Wednesday in the Brewers' Cactus League game against the Padres. Wilson, who is attending big-league camp as a non-roster invitee, received a clean bill of health entering spring training after he was shut down in early August of last season, when he underwent surgery to address thoracic outlet syndrome. His start Wednesday marks his seventh appearance of spring training, with Wilson having gone 1-for-7 with a home run over his first six contests. He's expected to open the upcoming campaign with Triple-A Nashville.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Weston Wilson: Undergoes season-ending surgery
Wilson was recently placed on the 60-day injured list by Triple-A Nashville and underwent surgery Tuesday to address thoracic outlet syndrome, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Wilson has been sidelined since early August and will now miss the rest of the season after undergoing the procedure. The 26-year-old enjoyed a strong season at Triple-A with a .267/.354/.548 slash line and 16 homers in 70 games. The surgery typically carries a lengthy recovery, so he may not be ready for spring training or the start of the 2022 campaign.... See More ... See Less
