Athletics' Trevor Gott: Hits 60-day IL
The Athletics placed Gott (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Sunday.
His move to the 60-day IL frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for veteran reliever Austin Adams, whom the Athletics acquired from the Mets on Sunday. Gott is slated to undergo Tommy John surgery in the coming days and will miss the entire 2024 season, and quite likely, the early part of the 2025 campaign.

Gott will undergo Tommy John surgery after being diagnosed with a fully torn UCL in his right elbow, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
It's not clear how long the elbow has been bothering Gott, but he was blasted for eight runs in three innings this spring. He had been in the high-leverage mix for the Athletics but instead will miss the entire 2024 campaign. Gott will become a free agent after the season.

Athletics' Trevor Gott: Inconsistent this spring
Gott has allowed three earned runs on four hits and a walk while also recording three strikeouts over three innings in three Cactus League appearances.
The third time was the charm for Gott this spring, as he was able to pitch a clean inning with two strikeouts against the Diamondbacks on Monday after surrendering three earned runs over his first pair of turns. Despite the struggles, Gott could be utilized in some high-leverage spots this season, although Mason Miller and Dany Jimenez project to be the top options for ninth-inning work.

Athletics' Trevor Gott: Could vie for save chances
Gott is viewed by general manager David Forst as a potential candidate for save chances this coming season, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Forst notes the team and Gott had discussed the right-handed journeyman getting closing opportunities when he signed a one-year deal in December. The 31-year-old is just 6-for-17 in save chances during a big-league career that dates back to 2015, but he does have 255 regular-season appearances on his resume and boasts a mid-90s fastball. Forst added that Dany Jimenez and Mason Miller are also firmly in the mix for the closer's role, and he didn't rule out the possibility of another free-agent signing before the start of the campaign.

Athletics' Trevor Gott: Lands with Oakland
Gott signed a one-year contract Friday with the Athletics, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Gott registered a decent 4.19 ERA and 62:19 K:BB in 58 innings of relief last season between the Mariners and Mets while holding right-handed batters to a .222/.280/.306 slash line. The 31-year-old is now with his seventh different MLB team and projects to fill a high-leverage role in Oakland's patchwork bullpen.

Mets' Trevor Gott: Blows save Monday
Gott (0-1) blew the save and took the loss Monday against Texas. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out three over one inning.
Tasked with protecting a one-run lead in the ninth due to Adam Ottavino having pitched the prior two days, Gott immediately found himself in trouble after surrendering a pair of hits to open the frame. The right-hander would manage to strike out Leody Taveras and Marcus Semien before Nathaniel Lowe drove in two runs with a two-out single. Gott's now given up six runs over his last 1.2 innings, raising his ERA to 4.82 with a 1.52 WHIP and 53:15 K:BB across 46.2 innings between the Mets and Mariners this season. While New York's lack of bullpen options could keep Gott in a high-leverage role, fantasy managers would be best served looking for saves elsewhere.

Mets' Trevor Gott: Notches first save
Gott gave up two hits and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Thursday to record his first save of the season in a win over the Cardinals.
With Adam Ottavino and Brooks Raley both having worked three of the prior four days, manager Buck Showalter had to get creative at the end of a 4-2 game, and Gott received the call in the ninth. The right-hander made things interesting by giving up a couple singles, but he then struck out Paul Goldschmidt to end the night. Drew Smith was needed in the seventh to get out of a jam with two on and nobody out, suggesting he's still viewed as the higher-leverage option, but Gott has earned his place in the late-inning mix with a 12-appearance scoreless streak during which he's posted a 12:3 K:BB through 11.1 innings.

Mets' Trevor Gott: Dealt to New York
Gott and right-hander Chris Flexen were traded to the Mets from the Mariners in exchange for southpaw Zach Muckenhirn on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Gott will head to New York as the Mets look to bolster their bullpen. The 30-year-old has produced a 4.03 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with 32 strikeouts over 29 innings in 30 appearances with the Mariners this season and will likely operate in a middle-relief role with his new squad.

Mariners' Trevor Gott: Takes third loss Tuesday
Gott (0-3) took the extra-innings loss against the Nationals on Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk across one inning.
Tasked with preserving a 4-4 tie when he entered in the 11th inning, Gott, who'd been activated from the injured list prior to Tuesday's game, nearly escaped unscathed but allowed a two-out, two-run double to Lane Thomas and an RBI single to Luis Garcia. Those three runs proved the difference in the game, handing the righty a loss. He also conceded five earned runs on four hits over one inning against the Rangers on June 4 in his last outing before going on the IL, and with that, Gott has seen what was once a 1.75 ERA quickly balloon to 3.90.

Gott (0-2) took the loss in extra innings against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing an unearned run on two hits and a walk without retiring a batter.
Called on in a tie game for the second time in as many days, Gott once again faltered. Saturday, his troubles began immediately when he allowed a Vladimir Guerrero single that advanced inning-opening runner Bo Bichette to third base and then surrendered a game-winning single to Daulton Varsho after intentionally walking Matt Chapman. After opening the season with five straight scoreless appearances, Gott has now surrendered at least an unearned run in five of his subsequent eight outings.

Gott (0-1) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Friday, allowing an earned run on two hits and a hit batsman over one inning. He struck out one.
The veteran right-hander saw a streak of four appearances without allowing an earned run snapped when he surrendered a go-ahead single to George Springer in the sixth inning that would prove to be the difference in the game. Friday's stumble notwithstanding, Gott has been a relatively effective asset out of the bullpen in his first Mariners season, posting five holds alongside a 2.57 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across 14 innings over 13 appearances.
