The 28-year-old appeared to have played his way onto Atlanta's Opening Day roster in a bench role with an impressive spring that has seen him bat .333 (10-for-30) with three homers and three steals. However, with Duvall now on the roster as a platoon partner for Jarred Kelenic in left field, Wall likely misses out as the team isn't expected to carry five outfielders. Getting the start in left field and hitting leadoff in an Atlanta lineup that featured only a handful of regulars, Wall took Zach Eflin deep to right field in the second inning before launching a pitch from Naoyuki Uwasawa the other way to left field in the third. Power has never been a big part of Wall's game, even when he was a prospect in the Rockies' system, but he did club eight homers in 90 games for Triple-A Gwinnett last season, so the 27-year-old may have developed a bit of pop as he's matured. His main asset remains his speed -- he swiped 52 bags in 60 attempts for Gwinnett in 2023 -- and it's that quality that could land him a bench role for Atlanta this season.

The outfielder entered as a pinch runner for Eddie Rosario with one out in the ninth inning Saturday and immediately showed why Atlanta sees him as a valuable roster piece, stealing both second and third base on consecutive pitches before Milwaukee closer Devin Williams could get through the next batter. Wall was stranded as the tying run at third base, but it was nonetheless an impressive big-league debut. He isn't likely to see his name penciled into the lineup often, but Saturday's performance highlighted the impact Wall can make with his speed in select situations.

Wall hit .270 with 27 doubles, nine home runs, 13 steals (on 21 attempts) and a 109:49 K:BB in 109 games at Double-A. He is not on the 40-man roster, so it is unlikely that he makes his big-league debut until 2020.
Wall was traded to Toronto alongside Chad Spanberger and a player to be named later in exchange for Seung Hwan Oh on Wednesday.
Across 93 games at the High- and Double-A levels within the Rockies' system this season, Wall slashed .260/.340/.410 with nine home runs, 31 RBI and 28 stolen bases. The speedy 22-year-old has spent most of 2018 continuing to transition to a role in center field after beginning his career as a second baseman. Since being promoted to Double-A Hartford in late May, he's hit for a .206 average with a .648 OPS, so look for Toronto to keep him at that level upon his arrival.

He missed most of 2017 with a dislocated shoulder and returned to High-A -- a level where he has now played 145 games. Wall will likely have to wait things out at Lancaster until Brendan Rodgers or Garrett Hampson gets promoted from Double-A to Triple-A, as there is a bit of an organizational logjam at second base right now. Considering he has so much experience at High-A, is 22 and will get to play half his games in the extreme hitter's park in Lancaster, Wall should have no problem posting impressive numbers for as long as he calls the California League home.

Rockies' Forrest Wall: Out for season with dislocated shoulder

Wall is out for the rest of the season after dislocating his left (non-throwing) shoulder in a game for High-A Lancaster earlier this month, Bobby DeMuro of BaseballCensus.com reports.
It is now clear why Wall has not played since May 2. On the surface, it appeared that he was really playing well in a repeat run at High-A, slashing .299/.361/.471 with three home runs and five steals (on eight attempts) in 87 at-bats. However, the fact that he was slashing just .222/.237/.444 away from the extremely hitter-friendly conditions at Lancaster suggests that his surface numbers may not truly indicate how well he was playing prior to the injury.
Wall, 20, is hitting .342 with four steals over his last 10 games for High-A Modesto.
Wall has been stellar of late, though he has not hit particularly well overall in 2016. He is batting .267/.328/.363 on the season, though he does have 20 steals along with six home runs. The potential of double-digit home runs and 20-plus steals does make him an intriguing prospect, especially if he sticks at second base.
