Blue Jays' Chad Green: Records first save Thursday
Green picked up the save in Thursday's 8-5 win over the Angels after throwing a clean ninth inning. He struck out two.
Closer Jeff Hoffman, who had worked each of the past two days and gave up six runs across those outings, unsurprisingly didn't get the call in Thursday's save situation, and it was Green who recorded his first save of the year. Setup man Yimi Garcia has also struggled lately, having yielded seven runs over his last two appearances, but Green is still unlikely to see more than the occasional save opportunity while Toronto's top two bullpen arms work to get back on track. Through 17.1 innings in 2025, Green holds a 3.63 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB.

Blue Jays' Chad Green: Picks up second hold
Green retired the only batter he faced Friday to record his second hold of the season in a 3-1 win over the Mariners.
The right-hander got the final out of the seventh inning, getting Ben Williamson to ground out with a runner in scoring position. Green has had an effective start to the season, posting a 3.12 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 8:2 K:BB through 8.2 innings.

Blue Jays' Chad Green: Breezing through camp
Green struck out one in a perfect inning during Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.
The right-hander has been nearly untouchable so far this spring, allowing zero runs or hits over four innings with a 4:1 K:BB. Green recorded a career-high 17 saves in 2024, but the January signing of Jeff Hoffman to be the Blue Jays' closer bumped everyone else in the bullpen down a rung. Green has experience in a setup role as well, producing 10 wins and 19 holds for the Yankees over 67 regular-season appearances in 2021.

Blue Jays' Chad Green: Escapes with save
Green allowed two hits in a scoreless inning Sunday, striking out one and earning a save against the Cardinals.
Green gave up a pair of singles but forced a Jordan Walker pop-out to close out the 3-2 win. Green made his first appearance since coughing up four runs in a loss against the Mets on Sept. 11. It was also his first converted save chance since Aug. 29 after blowing his previous three in September. Green owns a 3.42 ERA with a 44:14 K:BB through 50 innings.

Blue Jays' Chad Green: Blows yet another save
Green blew the save Sunday against Atlanta, allowing one earned run on two hits and zero walks in one inning. He did not record a strikeout.
Called upon in the ninth to protect a one-run lead, Green allowed back-to-back singles to open the inning before yielding a Matt Olson sacrifice fly to the tie game. Green managed to keep the score tied thanks to a timely double play, but the damage was already done. The 33-year-old has now blown saves in each of his last three appearances, allowing seven earned runs in 2.2 innings during that span. Even with that disastrous stretch, the veteran owns a respectable 2.85 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 42:11 K:BB in 47.1 innings this season, converting 16 of 19 saves.
