Wang was outrighted off the Pirates' 40-man roster Monday.
Wang threw 31 innings for the Athletics and Pirates in 2019, finishing with a fairly good 3.77 ERA. His underlying numbers don't support that figure, though, as he struck out just 14.0 percent of opposing batters while walking 10.9 percent.

Pirates' Wei-Chung Wang: Joins big club
The Pirates announced Tuesday that Wang has joined the major-league team.
Wang was claimed off waivers from the A's last weekend after being designated for assignment. His numbers with Oakland were actually pretty good (3.33 ERA, 1.22 WHIP in 20 appearances), but the peripherals were far less glowing, and he had a lot of trouble with the long ball at Triple-A. The lefty will likely work in mop-up duty for Pittsburgh.

Pirates' Wei-Chung Wang: Claimed by Pirates
Wang was claimed off waivers by the Pirates on Saturday and optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Wang made 20 appearances with the Athletics before being designated for assignment, compiling a 3.33 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 16:11 K:BB across 27 innings. The southpaw will likely join the Pirates in September as his new team looks to evaluate him before the offseason.

Wang spent the 2018 season in Korea with the NC Dinos and was previously with the Brewers. The left-hander is still only 26, but struggled over eight appearances in 2017 as a situational lefty, allowing two earned runs on five hits over just 1.1 innings.

Wei-Chung Wang: To head overseas
Wang will go overseas to play for the NC Dinos of the KBO League in South Korea in 2018, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Wang is expected to leave the Brewers' organization within the coming days, and the club will receive financial compensation for his departure. The left-hander delivered a strong season at Triple-A Colorado Springs in 2017 but wasn't able to make an impact at the major-league level, allowing two runs in 1.1 relief innings over eight appearances.

Wang was promoted by the Brewers on Friday.
Wang rejoins the Brewers after spending most of this season with Triple-A Colorado Springs. During 47 games with the Sky Sox, Wang posted a 2.05 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 57 innings of action. He made one appearance with the Brewers in late July, and figures to serve in low-leverage situations out of the bullpen as long as he's with the team.

The Brewers need to open a roster spot for Thursday's starter Matt Garza, and Wang was chosen as the roster casualty. He only appeared in one game before being sent back to the minors, allowing a hit without recording an out. He could return later in the year should Milwaukee need another lefty bullpen arm.

Wang had his contract selected by the Brewers on Sunday.
Wang was selected by the Brewers in the 2014 Rule 5 draft and trudged his way through a disastrous 10.90 ERA over 17.1 low-leverage innings in his first season with Milwaukee. The 25-year-old has spent the 2017 campaign in the tough pitching environment of Colorado Springs but has performed admirably, currently holding a 2.09 ERA over 47.1 innings. He'll provide another lefty arm in the Brewers bullpen moving forward.
