  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Swipes two bags Sunday

Springer went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. There wasn't much offense from either team as the game ended in a 1-0 Tampa Bay win, but Springer did his best to generate some action on the basepaths. The 33-year-old has had a strong spring, going 11-for-37 (.297) with three homers and two steals, and after stealing 14 bags in 2022, MLB's new rules and bigger bases could allow Springer to top the 16 stolen bases he racked up back in 2015.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Clubs first spring homer

Springer went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's split-squad game against Atlanta. The veteran outfielder took Bryce Elder deep in the seventh inning for his first homer of the spring. Springer has gone 4-for-18 with a double and Thursday's home run through six Grapefruit League appearances as he gears up for his third season with Toronto after amassing a .266/.346/.502 slash line through his first 211 games with the club.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Recovered from elbow surgery

Springer said Tuesday that he is fully recovered from October surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow, Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun reports. "It feels good to feel good," Springer told the gathered media at Blue Jays camp in Dunedin, Florida. The veteran outfielder also battled a concussion and a shoulder sprain in late 2022, among other previous issues, but he managed to log 583 regular-season plate appearances to the tune of an .814 OPS with 25 home runs and 14 stolen bases. Springer remains a multi-category fantasy threat at age 33.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Undergoes elbow procedure

The Blue Jays announced Thursday that Springer (concussion/shoulder) underwent surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow this week, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports. The 32-year-old suffered a concussion and shoulder sprain during the AL Wild Card Series against the Mariners, and he's now gone under the knife to address the bone spur in his elbow. Springer was banged up throughout 2022 but still played in 133 games and produced a .267/.342/.472 slash line with 25 home runs, 76 RBI, 89 runs and 14 stolen bases. The center fielder is expected to be fully recovered for the start of spring training in February.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Has concussion, sprained shoulder

Springer was diagnosed with both a concussion and a sprained shoulder Tuesday following his collision with teammate Bo Bichette in the AL Wild Card Series against Seattle, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports. Springer was forced to exit after the collision and evidently suffered injuries that could have kept him out of the ALCS had the Blue Jays managed to advance. Per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca, the outfielder may also undergo an elbow procedure sometime soon to address a bone spur, though he's expected to be recovered from all his injuries by the time spring training rolls around.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Exits after scary collision

Springer left Saturday's game against the Mariners on the medical cart after colliding with Bo Bichette in the field, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. As Matheson notes, Springer is already dealing with a laundry list of injuries, so he may have aggravated something or he may have suffered a new injury. Springer waved to the crowd as he was being carted off. It was a scary collision, but Bichette was able to stay in the game.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Good to go for Game 2

Springer (wrist) will lead off and play center field Saturday in Game 2 of the AL Wild Card Series against Seattle. Springer was hit in the wrist by an eighth-inning fastball from Andres Munoz on Friday, but he remained in the game. His initial X-rays were negative, so it's no surprise to see him back on the field for Saturday's elimination game.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: X-rays negative for wrist fracture

X-rays on Springer's wrist were negative after he was hit by a pitch Friday in the eighth inning of Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series against Seattle, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Springer was plunked by an Andres Munoz pitch clocked at 97.9 mph. He was able to tough it out and finish the game, and no structural damage was done, but Springer's status for Saturday is up in the air at the moment. If he's limited as a result of swelling, the Blue Jays may have to turn to someone else in center field with their season on the line.

However, interim manager John Schneider said after the game that Springer will be "good to go," so it wouldn't be surprising to see him available for Tuesday's series opener against the Phillies.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Clubs homer No. 20

Springer went 2-for-8 with a two-run home run across both games of Tuesday's doubleheader split against the Rays. After the Jays dropped the matinee and were facing a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning of the nightcap, Springer helped flip the script and salvage a split by taking Colin Poche deep for his 20th home run of the year. The 32-year-old snapped a 14-game homer drought with the performance, a stretch during which he slashed just .167/.265/.200 with two doubles, one RBI, two steals and nine runs.

Springer went 3-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored in the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Orioles. Since returning to the lineup in mid-August after recovering from an elbow injury, he's slashing .338/.405/.451 through 18 games with a homer, two steals, nine RBI and 12 runs.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Receives maintenance day

Springer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates. He'll head to the bench after going 11-for-47 (.234 average) with a home run, two stolen bases and a 6:7 BB:K while starting in each of the past 11 games at either designated hitter or in center field. Alejandro Kirk will handle DH duties Sunday, while Whit Merrifield gets the nod in center.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Patience pays off Thursday

Springer went 1-for-3 with three walks and an RBI in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Red Sox. After getting pitching around most of the night, Springer came to the plate with a runner on third base and one out in the 10th inning, and his grounder to Xander Bogaerts produced the winning run when the Boston shortstop couldn't get Bo Bichette at the plate. It's easy to see why the Red Sox were so wary of him -- Springer has an active eight-game hitting streak despite sitting out a couple days in the middle of that stretch after fouling a ball off his knee, going 16-for-28 (.571) with three doubles, a triple, six runs and seven RBI.
