  • White Sox's Grant Green: Signed by White Sox

Green was signed by the White Sox and assigned to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Green was released by the Nationals last week after appearing in 40 games with Triple-A Syracuse this season, where he slashed .246/.319/.285, but failed to make much of an impact on his overall stock. Over 129 career games with the A's, Angels, Giants and Nationals, the 29-year-old has compiled a .246 average and 38 RBI while mainly being used as a reserve infielder. He'll serve as organizational depth for a White Sox team already dealing with injuries to Tyler Saladino and Leury Garcia, but remains a longshot to see much, if any, major-league playing time.

  • Nationals' Grant Green: Outrighted to Triple-A

Green was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports. The Nats designated Green for assignment earlier in the week but Green will remain in the Washington system, having passed through waivers unclaimed. A first-round pick in 2009, Green is merely an organizational depth piece. He has totaled 353 plate appearances in parts of five seasons at the major-league level (97 plate appearances since the start of the 2015 season).

  • Nationals' Grant Green: Designated for assignment

Green was designated for assignment Friday, Dan Kolko of MASN Sports reports. With Trea Turner (hamstring) returning from the disabled list, Green was the obvious casualty. The 29-year-old received barely any playing time during his short stint with the Nationals, going 0-for-3 in his only start Thursday. Green likely returns to Triple-A Syracuse if he clears waivers, where he should see regular playing time and further chances to hone his skill set.

  • Nationals' Grant Green: Called up by Nationals

Green had his contract purchased by the Nationals on Wednesday and will join the team immediately, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports. Green is the beneficiary from the Nats' sudden void at shortstop, as Trea Turner and Stephen Drew are both sidelined by hamstring injuries. He is off to a rough start this season, batting .162 over 20 spring games and .154 over four games with Triple-A Syracuse, but provides major league experience at the position. Nonetheless, he needs to find some rhythm at the plate if he wants to remain with the team long-term.

  • Nationals' Grant Green: Agrees to minor league deal with Nationals

Green agreed to a minor league deal with the Nationals on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, the Washington Post's Chelsea Janes reports. Green does not figure to break camp with the big league club, as he is behind Stephen Drew and Wilmer Difo on the organizational depth chart, among the club's backup middle infield options. He has a career .251/.286/.339 slash line with four home runs in 350 career MLB plate appearances, and most recently washed out of the Giants organization.

  • Giants' Grant Green: Clears waivers, outrighted to Triple-A

Green has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento. Green was designated for assignment by the Giants last Thursday as they activated second baseman Joe Panik from the disabled list. The 28-year-old will head back to Triple-A where he owns a .294/.321/.437 line with six home runs and 33 RBI in 238 at-bats.

  • Giants' Grant Green: Out of Sunday's lineup

Green is out of the lineup Sunday as the Giants take on the Diamondbacks. Green had been putting up solid numbers for the Giants, having gone 9-for-30 across eight games. However, he'll be replaced by Ramiro Pena at second base for Sunday's contest. With Joe Panik (concussion) expected to return shortly after the All-Star break, Green will likely make much fewer appearances in the lineup in the coming weeks.

  • Giants' Grant Green: Collects two hits in debut Thursday

Green made his first start with the Giants after being called up prior to Thursday's game. He went 2-for-5 with a double in the 12-6 win over Oakland. With Joe Panik (concussion) on the disabled list and Ramiro Pena (ankle) going down Wednesday, Green could be in line for some regular playing time at the keystone this week. While he is no longer the prospect he was during his time in Oakland and Los Angeles, he has produced with Triple-A Sacramento this season, batting .294 with six homers and 33 RBI in 250 plate appearances.

  • Giants' Grant Green: Called up by Giants, starting at second base Thursday

Green was recalled Thursday and will start at second base against the A's, Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The Giants optioned reliever Chris Stratton in a corresponding move to add Green to the active roster Thursday. Green only managed to slash .190/.227/.262 at the big league level last season, but he's put together a respectable .294/.321/.437 slash line at Triple-A Sacramento this season. He'll bat seventh in the order Thursday against Dillon Overton.

  • Giants' Grant Green: Unproductive bat to start year

Green went 0-for-4 in Sunday's loss to the Salt Lake Bees. Having spent 2015 splitting time between the Angels and Triple-A Salt Lake, Green has been off to a fairly underwhelming start with his new club. Thus far, he has hit .263 in 10 games and has accrued an on-base percentage of .282. It's expected that the Giants will be patient with his development in Triple-A Sacramento before bringing him up, as he's coming off a subpar 21 game MLB campaign where he hit below .200. Additionally, the Giants' current starter at second base is Joe Panik, an All-Star in only his third season of the MLB.

  • Giants' Grant Green: Signs with Giants

Green signed a minor league deal with the Giants on Monday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. Green cleared waivers in October, so there didn't seem to be much interest out there for the 28-year-old, but the Giants were apparently intrigued enough to extend an offer. He posted a .306/.337/.449 slash line at Triple-A last season, but struggled in the majors to the tune of a .190 average in 42 at bats, so he'll likely begin the year in the minors.

  • Angels' Grant Green clears waivers, outrighted to Triple-A

Angels infielder/outfielder Grant Green cleared waivers and was assigned outright to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times reports. All 29 other MLB teams passed on Green after he was designated for assignment last week, so he will remain in the Angels' organization. While Green can play all around the field, he's done little at the plate in 109 games at the highest level to suggest he will ever be more than a fringe major leaguer (.249/.283/.335).

  • Angels recall pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes; DFA Grant Green

Pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes was called up by the Angels on Wednesday. The 30-year-old lefty will return to the majors for the first time since 2011, providing the Angels with some added bullpen depth for the final five games of the regular season. Reyes will also be available for the postseason roster, but it's hard to imagine he will have a spot, especially considering his .362 BAA and 1.89 WHIP allowed to left-handed hitters at Triple-A Salt Lake. Grant Green was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. His defensive versatility was not enough to compensate for the lack of offensive production at the major league level. In 21 games with the big club this season, Green went just 8 for 42 (.190 average) with one extra-base hit and 14 strikeouts, lowering his line at the highest level to .249/.283/.335. The 28-year-old did hit .306/.337/.449 at Triple-A Salt Lake this season, so it's at least possible he could draw interest from another club.

The Angels have recalled infielder Grant Green from Triple-A Salt Lake City. Green has gone back and forth between the big-leagues and Triple-A this year, as this will be his fourth stint with the Angels in 2015. Green is in the starting lineup on Saturday, as he will be at second base and bat ninth against the Blue Jays. To clear room on the roster, Nick Tropeano--who started on Friday--has been optioned back to Triple-A.

  • Angels SS Erick Aybar (hamstring) still out of lineup on Saturday

Angels shortstop Erick Aybar remains out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Tigers. Aybar sat out Friday's game after injuring his left hamstring on Thursday. Aybar believes he is ready to go, but the team decided to give him one more day to recover. He's expected to have a full workout on Saturday, and should be in the lineup on Sunday, according to the Orange Count Register Grant Green is getting the start at shortstop and batting ninth in Saturday's lineup.

Angels infielder Grant Green is getting the start at second base for Wednesday's contest with the Padres. Green was just recalled from Triple-A on Tuesday after starting the year with the big club. "It's nice," Green said, per the Orange County Register. "I feel comfortable there. I have felt comfortable there for a long time. It's nice to get back in the infield and play kind of where I want to play." Green is at the keystone position and batting ninth for manager Mike Scioscia, while Johnny Giavotella gets the day off.
