Geertsen signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Golden Knights on Saturday, per PuckPedia. Geertsen hasn't played in the NHL since 2021, when he was held scoreless while racking up 58 hits in 25 games with the Devils. The 28-year-old defenseman will likely spend most of his time in the AHL, serving as organizational depth for Vegas.... See More ... See Less

Devils' Mason Geertsen: Waived by Devils
Geertsen was waived Sunday, per CapFriendly. Geertsen was held without a point in 25 games as a rookie last year. The 27-year-old should spend most of his time with AHL Binghamton this season.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Mason Geertsen: Re-signs with Devils
Geertsen signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Devils on Wednesday, per PuckPedia. Geertsen failed to record a point in 25 NHL contests last season, but he didn't spend any time with AHL Binghamtom. The 27-year-old blueliner is likely a rotational option at best for the Devils, and he could begin 2022-23 in the minors.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Mason Geertsen: Still searching for first point
Geertsen had four hits and two PIM in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Rangers. Geertsen never dressed for an NHL game with the Rangers but was in the organization for the previous couple seasons before moving to New Jersey, so it wasn't surprising to see him bring a little extra physicality in this one. That's how Geertsen has to play to stay in the lineup, as he's certainly not in there for his offense -- Geertsen's yet to record a point through 17 NHL appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Mason Geertsen: Exits COVID-19 protocols
Geertsen cleared the NHL's COVID-19 protocols Monday. Geertsen has missed the last two games while in the protocols. The 26-year-old has averaged 7:06 of ice time and been held without a point over 12 appearances this season. He will likely return to a bottom-six role during Dougie Hamilton's (jaw) absence.... Devils' Mason Geertsen: Sidelined by virus
The Devils placed Geertsen in COVID-19 protocols Friday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Geertsen, who's been a healthy scratch four of the last five games, will be unavailable Saturday and possibly longer. Once healthy, the 26-year-old figures to be New Jersey's fourth right defenseman until Dougie Hamilton (jaw, COVID-19) returns from injured reserve.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Mason Geertsen: Slots into lineup for loss
Geertsen skated 5:22 of uneventful ice time in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild. Geertsen is a brawler whom the Devils like to deploy on the fourth line to provide a physical presence. The 26-year-old Geertsen now has seven NHL games under his belt, with all of them coming this season. He has two shots and 24 PIM without a point.... See More ... See Less -
Devils' Mason Geertsen: Claimed by New Jersey
Geertsen was claimed off waivers by the Devils on Sunday. Geertsen didn't appear in any NHL contests last season, but he did draw into 20 games with AHL Hartford, picking up five points and 43 PIM over that span. Geertsen may get into a few top-level contests when New Jersey is in need of an enforcer this year, but the 26-year-old blueliner will likely spend most of the campaign in the minors.... See More ... Rangers' Mason Geertsen: Added to taxi squad
Geertsen was promoted to the taxi squad Friday, CapFriendly reports. The 25-year-old blueliner will join the taxi squad as a depth defenseman. He has two points in six AHL games this year but he has yet to make his NHL debut.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Mason Geertsen: Signs two-year deal
Geertsen signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Rangers on Wednesday, per PuckPedia. Geertsen was also waived by the Rangers on Wednesday. The contract will carry a cap hit of $725,000 at the NHL level, but it's unlikely that the 25-year-old blueliner will join the big club anytime soon.... See More ... See Less

SinBin.vegas@SinBinVegas3D agoNot exactly the opening frame the Golden Knights were looking for. Felt like they were playing uphill aside from the PK and when the chances came they didn't finish them. Meanwhile, a single soft exit ended up behind Hill. It's going to take much better to win this game.
