Kemp was released by the Reds on Tuesday.
Kemp had been re-assigned to minor-league camp and it appears he has exercised the opt-out clause in his contract. The 32-year-old will now be on the lookout for another gig and it's possible he could latch on with a major-league deal with a club looking for bench help.
