O'Keefe signed a minor-league contract with the Royals on Monday.
O'Keefe was with the Twins during spring training but was released before the season. The 30-year-old catcher saw some brief action in the majors with the Mariners over the previous two seasons and will give the Royals some experienced depth at Triple-A Omaha.
