Diaz signed a minor-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday.
Diaz, 27, slashed .278/.374/.484 with 16 home runs over 94 games with Double-A Tulsa in the Dodgers organization last season. The shine has long since worn off since his top prospect days, but Diaz is still fairly young and the Giants felt he was worth a no-risk flier.
