Winnipeg acquired Kniazev from San Jose on Sunday in exchange for defenseman Leon Gawanke.
Kniazev notched five goals and 28 points in 61 games with AHL San Jose last season. The 22-year-old blueliner made his NHL debut Nov. 4, 2021 against St. Louis, logging 11:59 of ice time. Kniazev, who will be eligible for restricted free agency after the 2023-24 season, is likely to start in the minors next campaign.

Sharks' Artemi Kniazev: Reassigned to AHL
Kniazev was sent back to AHL San Jose on Friday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Seven Sharks regulars cleared the league's COVID-19 protocols, so Kniazev and several other depth reinforcements are headed back to the Barracuda. Kniazev made his NHL debut in his time with the Sharks, recording two shots on goal and a hit through 11:59 of ice time against the Blues on Nov. 4.

Kniazev has seen action in just one game for the Sharks this season in which he tallied two shots, one hit and a minus-2 rating in 11:59 of ice time. The defenseman probably shouldn't be expected to play during this stint in the NHL, instead providing emergency depth while the team is on a five-game road trip.
