Holloway was recalled from AHL Bakersfield in advance of Game 4 against the Kings on Sunday. Holloway logged three goals and nine points in 51 games with Edmonton this season before he was sent down on Feb. 17. The 21-year-old rookie will likely be a healthy scratch for Sunday's contest though he could be a bottom-six option for the Oilers at some point in the series following an injury to Mattias Janmark (foot).... Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Set for one-month absence
Holloway, who was injured while playing in the minors, will be sidelined for at least a month, Jason Gregor of OilersNation.com reports Monday. Before being demoted Feb. 17, Holloway had played in 51 games for the Oilers this season in which he recorded three goals, six assists and 44 shots while averaging just 9:35 of ice time. The move to the minors was required in order for the club to activate Kailer Yamamoto off injured but Holloway likely would have remained in the mix for a call-up if needed. Instead, the 21-year-old Holloway won't be in contention to return until late March.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Sent to AHL
Holloway was reassigned to AHL Bakersfield on Friday. The move was necessitated by Edmonton activating Kailer Yamamoto, as the Oilers are tight to the salary cap. Holloway has three goals and nine points in 51 games with the Oilers. He will see his first AHL action of the season on the weekend.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Earns first multi-point game
Holloway notched a pair of assists, three hits and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Kraken. Holloway earned his first two-point game in the NHL. He helped out on Derek Ryan's second-period tally and Ryan McLeod's insurance goal in the third. Since the start of January, Holloway has picked up two goals and three assists over eight games, seeing a slightly increased role when injuries thinned the Oilers' lineup. He'll likely move back to the bottom six now that Evander Kane (wrist) is healthy, but Holloway could earn more ice time if he continues to get involved on offense. The rookie has nine points, 34 shots on net, 59 hits, 25 PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 42 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Garners helper Friday
Holloway notched an assist and six PIM in Friday's 7-1 win over the Sharks. Holloway set up Ryan McLeod's goal, which was the Oilers' seventh and last tally of the game. The 21-year-old Holloway also took a minor penalty in each period, which shows there's still some growth for him to make before he can be trusted with a larger workload. He's earned three points over his last five games and now has seven points, 55 hits, 32 shots on net and 25 PIM in 40 outings overall.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Opens scoring in blowout win
Holloway scored a goal on two shots in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Oilers. Holloway was the latest player to get a look in the top six, playing alongside Connor McDavid in this contest. The switch paid off almost immediately, as Holloway tallied 3:24 into the game. The tally was his second in the last four games, but his offense remains just as limited as his ice time. The 21-year-old rookie has three goals, three helpers, 31 shots on net, 54 hits, 19 PIM and a minus-3 rating through 39 outings.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Snaps scoreless streak in win
Holloway tallied a goal on three shots in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Islanders. Holloway beat Ilya Sorokin with a one-timer, extending Edmonton's lead to 3-1 in the second period. The goal, which would stand as the game-winner, was Holloway's first point in 12 games. The rookie center now has two goals and three assists in 36 games this season. Holloway has demonstrated offensive potential, but he's unlikely to have much value while playing a bottom-six role.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Adds assist in big win
Holloway produced an assist in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Coyotes. Holloway saw 15:05 of ice time in the blowout win, his second-highest total of the year. It's unlikely to be a regular occurrence, but with the Oilers looking for any chemistry among their depth scorers, he could be due for more playing time. The rookie winger is at one goal, three assists, 14 shots on net, 36 hits and a minus-5 rating through 23 outings.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Deposits first NHL tally
Holloway secured a milestone marker during the third period of Saturday's 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the host Rangers. Capping a run of three consecutive Edmonton goals in 5:42, Holloway evened Saturday's contest at 3-3 at 10:21 of the third period. The 2020 first-round draft pick beat goalie Igor Shesterkin with a blast from the left face-off circle, securing his first NHL marker in 17 outings. "It's pretty special," Holloway said, per NHL.com. "Cool moment. Definitely a memory and a goal that I'll remember forever."... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Makes most of limited time
Holloway produced an assist and three hits in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Devils. Holloway saw just 4:35 of ice time -- the only other time he was under five minutes this year, he left the game with an injury. Despite limited action, he's picked up two assists in his last three games, accounting for all of his offense in seven appearances. The 21-year-old has added 16 hits, four PIM, three shots on net and a minus-1 rating in a little-used fourth-line role. The Oilers may ultimately decide to send him to AHL Bakersfield at some point this year, as he's not getting enough playing time to help his development with the big club.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Earns first career helper
Holloway produced an assist and two hits in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Flames. Holloway picked up the secondary assist on Connor McDavid's third-period tally. The helper was Holloway's first NHL point, coming in his fifth regular season contest -- he made his debut in the Oilers' Game 4 loss to the Avalanche in last season's Western Conference Finals. The 21-year-old has seen extremely limited usage in a bottom-six role. He saw only 5:29 of ice time Saturday, so it's possible Holloway could be on the verge of heading to AHL Bakersfield to get more productive playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Good to go Thursday
Holloway (upper body) will return to the lineup Thursday versus the Blackhawks, Jack Michaels of the Oilers Radio Network reports. Holloway was reportedly close to returning Wednesday, and it only took him one more day to rejoin the lineup. His return allows the Oilers to roll with a traditional 12 forwards -- the rookie will play on the fourth line with Devin Shore and Derek Ryan.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Out of lineup Wednesday
Holloway (upper body) has declared himself ready to return but will still sit out Wednesday versus the Blues, Robert Tychkowski of the Edmonton Journal reports. Holloway is set to miss a fourth straight game, but it sounds like he's getting close to a return. This may be a case of the Oilers not wanting to have him play on back-to-back nights -- they're in Chicago on Thursday. Holloway will likely handle a bottom-six role once he is given the all-clear to return.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Ruled out for two more games
Holloway (upper body) won't play before the Oilers' road trip that begins Wednesday in St. Louis, Jason Gregor of OilersNation.com reports. Holloway will miss the next two contests, though head coach Jay Woodcroft is optimistic the rookie winger will be on the road trip. With the Oilers in a very tight salary cap situation, expect defenseman Markus Niemelainen to continue playing while Holloway is out.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Not playing Thursday
Holloway (upper body) will not be in the Edmonton lineup Thursday, per Ryan Rishaug of TSN.ca. Holloway left Tuesday's game against the Sabres and was not at practice Thursday. Holloway has yet to pick up a point in three games. Consider him day-to-day.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Dealing with upper-body injury
Holloway left Tuesday's game versus the Sabres with an upper-body injury, and head coach Jay Woodcroft had no update on the rookie after the contest, Jason Gregor of OilersNation.com reports. Holloway was hit hard by Ilya Lyubushkin in the second period, and that would end Holloway's game. He saw 4:46 of ice time prior to his exit. Gregor adds that he saw the winger after the game, so it's encouraging that he didn't require extensive medical attention. Holloway can be considered day-to-day ahead of Thursday's game versus the Hurricanes.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Pushing for roster spot
Holloway scored a hat trick in Monday's preseason game versus the Canucks. Holloway, a first-round pick from 2020, is pushing to make the Oilers out of camp. The 21-year-old winger battled a wrist injury at times last season, but he's shown he's fully healthy with a strong preseason. It's likely the Oilers will want him to play up the lineup, so he'll have to earn at least a middle-six job to avoid beginning the year at AHL Bakersfield.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Signs entry-level contract
Holloway (thumb) signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Oilers on Friday. Holloway recently completed his sophomore season at the University of Wisconsin, during which he racked up an impressive 11 goals and 24 assists in just 23 games. The 2020 first-round pick has top-six potential, but he's probably still at least a year away from carving out a significant role with the big club.... See More ... See Less -
Oilers' Dylan Holloway: Dealing with broken thumb
Holloway suffered a broken thumb during the Big 10 tournament, Mark Spector of Sportsnet.ca reports. Holloway's decision on signing with the Oilers has yet to be determined. He's set for x-rays on his injured thumb Monday, which will likely inform his decision-making process. The 19-year-old forward probably won't be healthy enough to make an impact at the NHL level in 2020-21, but he could be a factor next season if he makes the jump to the professional ranks....
