Ondrej Pavelec: Retiring from professional hockey
Pavelec will hang up his skates and end his professional career, Austin Siragusa of Global Winnipeg reports.
Pavelec spent last season as a backup with the Rangers, appearing in 19 contests, in which he went 4-9-1 with a 3.05 GAA. For his career, the 41st overall pick in the 2005 NHL Draft racked up 398 games, a 156-167-48 record and .907 save percentage. Concussions in his final year with the Jets led to the 31-year-old losing his job to Connor Hellebuyck and ultimately leaving the organization for a one-year stint in New York.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Stops 20 in 2-1 defeat
Pavelec made 20 saves in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Islanders.
Pavelec was spotless besides a pair of goals against 2:32 apart in the middle frame. Those were enough to hand the beleaguered backup a tough-luck loss, however, as Jaroslav Halak once again looked like Dominik Hasek against the Rangers. The Blueshirts owned a 35-22 edge in shots against the league's worst defensive team, but Halak held them to one goal after pitching a 50-save shutout in their last meeting Feb. 15. As for Pavelec, his one-year stint in New York is likely over with Henrik Lundqvist expected to start Saturday's finale.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Final start of season ahead Thursday
Pavelec will start in goal Thursday against the Islanders at the Barclays Center.
Pavelec surrendered six goals on a whopping 49 shots in his last start March 30, but it appears he will get one more before the regular season comes to a close. Henrik Lundqvist has already been confirmed as Saturday's starter for the season finale, so Pavelec will get one more opportunity to showcase his abilities in what figures to be a shootout between two teams ranking in the top five in goals allowed per game this season.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Struggles versus Lightning
Pavelec allowed six goals on 49 shots in a 7-3 loss to the Lightning on Friday.
The good news is Pavelec started and made it through the whole game for the first time since late January, but the bad news is owners saw what happens when he doesn't get pulled -- six goals allowed. To be fair to Pavelec, one of the top teams in the NHL peppered him with 49 shots and scored two power-play goals in the Rangers' defeat. Still, Pavelec isn't a guy owners want in their lineup. He possesses an .899 save percentage in his last six appearances.

Pavelec will take on the Lightning as a home starter Friday.
The Rangers seemingly have no plans to shut down No. 1 starter Henrik Lundqvist, but the King experienced an overtime loss to the Capitals in the last game Wednesday, so Pavelec is the lucky one who gets to face the league's top offense. We say that with sarcasm, of course -- Pavs is likely someone you want to avoid as the owner of just four wins through 17 games.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Stops 26 shots in strong relief appearance
Pavelec saved 26 of 27 shots after entering in the first period of Monday's 4-2 loss to Washington.
Starter Alexandar Georgiev lasted just 8:54 into the first period and allowed three goals on only six shots, so it wasn't a great spot for Pavelec to step into. Still, the veteran Czech battled, and the Rangers actually outscored Washington 2-1 after he entered the game. This was Pavelec's first game action since Feb. 9, and he hasn't started since Jan. 25. With Henrik Lundqvist (back) and Georgiev also in the fold, Pavelec's workload over the final two weeks of the season is difficult to project.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Slated for backup duties
Pavelec (knee) will serve as Alexandar Georgiev's backup for Thursday's game against the Flyers, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.
Pavelec has missed New York's last 18 games due to a knee injury, but he's been practicing for over a week now, and is evidently healthy enough to return to the lineup, albeit in a limited capacity. If Henrik Lundqvist (back) is still unavailable Saturday, Pavelec could get the starting nod for the Rangers' matchup with Buffalo.

Pavelec (knee) took part in the morning skate at practice on Monday.
When Pavelec first sprained his MCL, the timeline given was that he would be out 2-3 weeks. However, it has already been roughly a month since that prognosis. Skating is a good first step, but there is a long way to go. He has yet to participate in a real practice or face shots. Pavelec is making progress, but his return date remains up in the air.

Things just keep getting worse for the Rangers. Granted, Pavelec has a 3.01 GAA and a .910 save percentage this season, but with Henrik Lundqvist's struggles the situation in net has gotten even murkier. Alexandar Georgiev will now back up King Henrik while Pavelec recovers from his injury.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Hits IR
Pavelec (knee) has been placed on injured reserve, per the NHL media site.
Pavelec exited Friday's matchup against the Jets with the knee issue and was unable to return. He underwent an MRI on Saturday, but the results have yet to come to light. However, his placement on injured reserve means he will not be eligible to return until next Saturday against Ottawa at the earliest.

Pavelec sustained a knee injury in Friday's game against the Flames that will cost him the remainder of the contest.
Henrik Lundqvist will guide the Rangers the rest of the way, spoiling his night off to rest. If Pavelec's knee issue costs him more than Friday's affair, the team may be forced to reach into its AHL depth for a backup Sunday when it travels to face the Jets in Winnipeg.

Pavelec will start in net Friday against the Flames at Madison Square Garden, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Pavelec allowed two goals on 18 shots in relief of Henrik Lundqvist during Wednesday's matchup and will give The King a breather between the pipes Friday. He hasn't performed particularly well when given the opportunity, owning a 4-7-1 record with a 3.01 GAA and .911 save percentage over 15 appearances this season. His home numbers are markedly better, however, with him possessing a 2.33 GAA and .925 save percentage in the Big Apple. He squares off against a Calgary team averaging 2.88 goals per game on the road this season but could be a sneaky play in daily formats if you're looking to go against the grain.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Narrowly escapes with victory
Pavelec allowed five goals on just 28 shots but came away victorious over the Sharks on Thursday. The final score was 6-5.
Things got interesting when Tomas Hertl beat Pavelec at 19:10 of the third period with San Jose's goalie pulled, but the Blueshirts managed to prevail. Still, Pavelec has been anything but solid lately in his role as a distant No. 2 to Henrik Lundqvist, giving up 12 goals on 70 shots over his last three appearances. Given his recent poor play, it's tough to recommend the 33-year-old from a fantasy standpoint -- including in daily formats, regardless of matchup.

Pavelec will patrol the blue paint against San Jose on Thursday, Brett Cyrgalis of the New York Post reports.
Pavelec gets the start over No. 1 Henrik Lundqvist, who will be heading to the NHL All-Star Game. The 30-year-old Pavelec has dropped three straight games while posting a 4.23 GAA and .882 save percentage. Heading into the back half of the season, the Czech could see a few more starts to keep King Henrik fresh for a postseason run.

Pavelec allowed two goals on 23 shots in relief of Henrik Lundqvist in Tuesday's loss to the Ducks.
Lundqvist was pulled in the first period and Pavelec failed to impress as his replacement. The Czech netminder was beaten on his first shot and was credited with the loss. Pavelec has now lost three straight games and owns a .914 save percentage in 12 appearances. Lundqvist won't get many nights off moving forward, and with a 3-7-1 record, Pavelec isn't a very appealing backup option when the Rangers do rest the King.

Pavelec has been pretty solid in limited action in 2017-18, compiling a 3-5-1 record while posting a 2.55 GAA and .926 save percentage in 10 appearances. The Slovakian netminder will look to stay sharp and pick up his fourth victory of the campaign in a home matchup with an Islanders team that's 8-13-1 on the road this season.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Takes tough loss
Pavelec yielded two goals on 34 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Golden Knights on Sunday.
The backup was pretty outstanding Sunday night, but he couldn't best Marc-Andre Fleury, who is one of the hottest goaltenders in the league. Pavelec, though, has stopped 62 of the last 64 shots he's seen (.969 save percentage), so fantasy owners should consider him as a streaming option moving forward. The Rangers head onto their bye this week, but they will have a back-to-back set next weekend, which should give Pavelec another opportunity to start.

Pavelec will get the nod against Vegas on Sunday.
Pavelec's last start was arguably his best of the season, as he stopped all 30 shots and notched a shutout against the high-flying Capitals. With a 2.61 GAA and .924 save percentage in his nine starts this year the 30-year-old has thrived in his role as Henrik Lundqvist's backup on Broadway, but with Vegas ranking second in the NHL in goals scored per game (3.48) this could be his toughest test yet.

Rangers' Ondrej Pavelec: Stops 30 to shut out Caps
Pavelec stopped all 30 shots he faced through overtime and both shootout attempts in Wednesday's 1-0 win over the Capitals.
Pavelec and Washington's Philipp Grubauer put on a goaltending clinic with matching shutouts in this battle of backups, but Pavelec was able to keep things going in the shootout while New York solved his German counterpart on both of its attempts in the skills challenge. While Pavelec deserves credit for this excellent performance, he did get lucky in overtime when John Carlson had an open net on a wraparound attempt but hit the far post. It looks like goaltending coach Benoit Allaire has worked his magic once again, as New York's latest backup has stopped 74 of 75 shots in his past two starts.
