Lions' John Cominsky: Back with Lions on two-year deal
The Lions re-signed Cominsky to a two-year, $8.5 million contract Tuesday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports.
Cominsky enjoyed a career year in Detroit last season, his first with the Lions after spending his first three years in Atlanta. With the ability to play off the edge and line up inside, Cominsky is a valuable piece in defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn's defense. Cominsky recorded four sacks and batted three passes in 14 appearances last season.

Cominsky underwent thumb surgery Tuesday on his right thumb and is expected to miss multiple weeks, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Cominsky was listed as a non-participant at Wednesday's practice due to a wrist injury, but recovering from the thumb procedure will now be his top concern. The Lions aren't yet placing him on injured reserve, so the 26-year-old defensive lineman may miss fewer than four games.

Lions' John Cominsky: Claimed by Detroit
Cominsky was awarded to the Lions off waivers Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
The 26-year-old defensive lineman was in line to have his role expanded going into his fourth year in the NFL before the Falcons decided to let him go last week. He'll likely have a tougher time finding playing time in Detroit, which just beefed up an already-solid front four by selecting Aidan Hutchinson with the second overall pick in this year's draft. Cominsky will compete with the likes of Levi Onwuzurike and John Penisini for rotational snaps in 2022.

John Cominsky: Cut by Atlanta
Cominsky was waived by the Falcons on Thursday, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.
Cominsky played 27 games primarily as a rotational defensive lineman over three campaigns with Atlanta, tallying 41 tackles and 1.5 sacks over this span, but he figured to fill in as the team's starting left defensive end this coming season. The 2019 fourth-round pick dealt with various injuries that limited him to a total of just 59 snaps over four games last year. Cominsky's cut could mean that third-year backup Nick Thurman steps up into a bigger role for the Falcons in 2022.
