49ers' Ambry Thomas: Ready for Super Bowl
Thomas (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation on the 49ers' final injury report ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl against the Chiefs.
Thomas was a limited participant at practice for consecutive days to start the week before logging a full session Friday. Look for him to take on his usual reserve role in the secondary assuming he avoids any setbacks.

49ers' Ambry Thomas: In clear after initial SB prep
Thomas (ankle) was limited at Friday's practice but doesn't have an injury designation after the first week of prep for Super Bowl LVIII against the Chiefs, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.
Thomas sustained an ankle injury during the 49ers' NFC Championship Game win over the Lions and he's now logged three consecutive limited practice sessions to begin San Francisco's Super Bowl prep. The 24-year-old cornerback will have another week to nurse his ankle issue, and it now seems as if he's in line to play through the pain on Feb. 11.

The 49ers listed Thomas (ankle) as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report, Josh Dubow of The Associated Press reports.
Thomas is viewed as day-to-day after suffering the ankle injury in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Lions in the NFC Championship Game. The cornerback still has the next two weeks to upgrade to full participation in practice and clear up some of the concern about his availability for the 49ers' Super Bowl matchup with the Chiefs on Feb. 11.

49ers' Ambry Thomas: Having surgery on hand
Thomas is expected to have surgery on his hand Tuesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
The backup cornerback will miss Sunday's season finale against the Rams but should return for the 49ers' first playoff game, per Wagoner. Thomas has 43 tackles, seven passes defensed, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 15 games this season. Samuel Womack, Isaiah Oliver and Darrell Luter could be in line for more snaps in his absence.

Thomas left Monday's loss to the Ravens with what was ultimately determined as both knee and hand issues. He was subsequently limited at practice throughout the week before drawing a questionable designation. It looks like he is feeling good enough to give it a go, so expect him to take on his usual role providing depth at cornerback assuming he avoids any setbacks.

Thomas exited Monday's loss to Baltimore early with what was originally called a hamstring injury, but he's now being listed as dealing with a knee/hand issue. It's promising for his chance of playing Sunday versus Washington that he was deemed a limited participant at practice Wednesday, though it's worth noting that the designation is an estimation since the 49ers held a walk-through. Thomas' activity over the remaining two days of Week 17 prep should give a better indication of his likelihood of suiting up against the Commanders.

There is no word on the severity of Thomas' injury, but he was forced to leave Monday. The cornerback tallied four solo tackles and one pass deflection before exiting.

Thomas registered one solo tackle and intercepted a pass in a 31-12 Week 12 win over Seattle on Thursday.
Thomas notched his first pickoff of the campaign when he stepped in front of Tyler Lockett to intercept Geno Smith early in the second quarter. Thomas played a season-high 84 percent of the 49ers' defensive snaps in the contest, continuing a recent trend. The third-year cornerback was limited to special-teams work in both Week 7 and Week 8, but since San Francisco's Week 9 bye he's played on at least 75 percent of the team's defensive snaps in three straight games.

Thomas had been dealing with a knee injury that held him out of the 49ers' Week 3 win over New York, but it seems as if he's had time to move past the issue. The 24-year-old should slide right back into his spot in the secondary as a rotational corner this coming Sunday.
