Rodgers (knee) was placed on injured reserve Saturday.
The backup tight end played a combined 13 offensive snaps over the past two weeks, but Rodgers was a bit more of an offensive factor for the Chargers when Gerald Everett was limited by a knee injury earlier in November. Expect undrafted rookie Stone Smartt to continue surging up the depth chart in Rodgers' absence.

Rodgers did not record a target in the 30-27 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
Rodgers did see 21 offensive snaps with Gerald Everett (groin) sidelined, but that wasn't enough to elicit a target. Both Rodgers and nominal starter Tre' McKitty did not see any passing looks among the tight ends as the lone pass attempt ended up going to third-stringer Stone Smartt in a bit of a junk-time checkdown. Expect Rodgers' playing time to fall to the wayside upon Everett's return.

The veteran castoff saw 13 snaps Sunday after Gerald Everett was forced to leave the game with a groin injury. The Chargers signed Rodgers off their practice squad Wednesday.
Rodgers was elevated on game day for each of the Chargers' first three games, recording one target over 12 offensive snaps played. The 30-year-old has provided depth behind Tre' McKitty while the Bolts' No. 2 tight end Donald Parham (hamstring) has been sidelined so far this season. Rodgers likely will continue to see limited usage until Parham suits up again.

Rodgers played on just three of the Bolts' 61 offensive snaps during his last available practice-squad elevation with the team Sunday. The 30-year-old tight end was not targeted for the second game in a row, though he did see his first special-teams action of the season (two snaps). Rodgers essentially served as the Chargers' third-string tight end with Donald Parham (hamstring) sidelined the past three weeks, though he'll need to garner an active roster spot in order to play for the team moving forward in 2022.

Rodgers was released by the Eagles on Monday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Rodgers will be released by Philadelphia heading into the team's final 53-man roster cuts for the second straight year. The 30-year-old tight end still caught two passes for 11 yards over three elevations from the Eagles' practice squad last regular season, and he caught 24 passes for 345 yards and two scores over 14 games as recently as 2020. Rodgers will now likely look to catch on in a veteran backup role elsewhere in 2022, unless he ends up returning to Philly's practice squad once again.

Rodgers (undisclosed) was activated from the PUP list on Wednesday, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Rodgers began training camp on the PUP list for undisclosed reasons and will now turn his attention to earning a roster spot. He appeared in three games with the Eagles in 2021, posting two receptions for 11 yards.

Rodgers spent the majority of 2021 on the Eagles' practice squad and will certainly be in a battle for a roster spot once he is healthy in camp. Formally a consistent contributor on the Packers, Rodgers hasn't had the same impact in Philadelphia over his previous four seasons. With no obvious option behind Dallas Goedert, Rodgers will work to make an impact this season.
