Houston-Carson started the season in Baltimore then finished up in Houston, where he played a career-high 447 snaps on defense. Texans' DeAndre Houston-Carson: Intercepts pass in loss
Houston-Carson recorded an interception, a pass defensed and seven tackles (six solo) in the Texans' 36-22 defeat to the Browns on Sunday.
The backup strong safety played on 96 percent of the defensive snaps after starter Jimmie Ward left the game in the first half with a quadriceps injury. Houston-Carson signed with the Texans in October and has played on a majority of the defensive snaps in six of eight games since then, mostly in relief of Ward. The veteran has 28 tackles in the seven games he's played in with Houston.

Given that Houston-Carson wasn't on the Texans' injury report this week, he may have fallen ill sometime late Friday or Saturday. He didn't travel with the team to New York, so while Houston hasn't shut the door on him playing Sunday, Houston-Carson is seemingly trending toward missing the contest. If Houston-Carson is unable to play, the newly-signed Adrian Amos would likely serve as the team's No. 3 safety behind starters Jimmie Ward and Jalen Pitre.

Texans' DeAndre Houston-Carson: Steps up when needed
Houston-Carson filled in for the injured Jimmie Ward (hamstring) in last week's win over the Bengals and is expected to do so again Sunday against Cardinals, Jon Poorman of the Houston Chronicle reports.
After several appearances on the NFL transaction logs this season, Houston-Carson has settled in with the Texans. He played all 64 defensive snaps and made two big plays in the fourth quarter in the Week 10 surprise win over Cincinnati: the safety intercepted a Joe Burrow pass in the red zone, then he knocked Tyler Boyd out of bounds after a 64-yard gain as the receiver appeared headed to the end zone with just over two minutes left in the game. "For me, that's the play of the game, and it just shows the type of mindset DeAndre has," Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans said. "It's just effort, and he's always going to do his job, and he's always in the right place. We're happy to have him." Houston's defense held the Bengals to a field goal, which set up Matt Ammendola's game-winning field goal.

Once the Bears placed Eddie Jackson (foot) on injured reserve after Week 11, Houston-Carson took on a full-time role. As a starter, he averaged five tackles per game and was a solid IDP option. It's possible that his solid work down the stretch helps him gain a significant role on a team as he enters unrestricted free agency.
