Raptors' A.J. Lawson: Stays productive Friday
Lawson chipped in 18 points (6-10 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT) and five rebounds across 24 minutes off the bench during Friday's 126-118 win over the Jazz.
While 24 minutes represented his smallest workload since Mar. 2, Lawson remained a vital part of the Raptors' rotation. The 24-year-old guard has drained multiple three-pointers and scored in double digits in four of the last six games (two starts), averaging 17.3 points, 5.2 boards, 3.0 threes and 1.3 assists in 29.7 minutes a contest over that stretch.

Raptors' A.J. Lawson: Game-high 28 points off bench
Lawson supplied 28 points (10-20 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT), six rebounds and four assists across 36 minutes during Wednesday's 118-105 victory over Philadelphia.
Lawson followed up his 32-point performance against the Wizards on Monday with a game-high 28 points Wednesday, and he did a fair amount of damage from distance with four triples. Lawson appears to have found his groove in the Raptors' offense after struggling in his two recent starts. Lawson will look to carry his momentum into Friday's game against the Pacers.

Raptors' A.J. Lawson: Explodes for season-high 32 points
Lawson racked up 32 points (9-21 FG, 7-14 3Pt, 7-11 FT), 12 rebounds and one steal in 33 minutes during Monday's 119-104 win over the Wizards.
Lawson returned to a bench Monday after starting in the previous two games, and he did it in style while posting the best performance of his young NBA career. This was just the second time he scored in double digits this season, so it'd be a stretch to believe he might score at this rate on a sustained basis going forward. At the very least, though, Lawson should be in line to see more minutes off the bench ahead of the final month-plus of the regular season.

Raptors' A.J. Lawson: Making first NBA start Friday
Lawson will start Friday's game against the Jazz, Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca reports.
Lawson has been in the Raptors rotation over the last two games due to multiple injuries, and he'll make the first start of his NBA career Friday. He tallied 13 points, two rebounds, one assist and two blocks over 26 minutes in Toronto's win over Orlando on Tuesday.

Raptors' A.J. Lawson: Scores season-high 13 points
Lawson contributed 13 points (5-6 FG, 3-4 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and two blocks in 26 minutes during Tuesday's 114-113 victory over the Magic.
For the second straight game, Lawson was part of the rotation for a Raptors squad that was without six players due to injury. He made the most of the opportunity by coming through with a season-high scoring total, after he had tallied just 11 points over his prior six appearances with Toronto on the season. While Gradey Dick (knee), Jamison Battle (nose), Brandon Ingram (ankle) and Ochai Agbaji (ankle) are sidelined, Lawson could enjoy a regular spot in the rotation, but the two-way player will likely lose out on minutes as soon as one or two of those players are healthy.

Raptors' A.J. Lawson: Makes team debut Monday
Lawson (quadricep) logged three points (1-1 3Pt) in four minutes off the bench in Monday's 139-125 loss to the Knicks.
Lawson wasn't available Saturday for the G League Raptors 905's 112-111 win over the San Diego Clippers due to the quad injury, but he was called up to the NBA squad and was cleared to play Monday. The 24-year-old took the floor at the tail end of the blowout loss and doesn't look as though he'll be a factor in the Toronto rotation during competitive games anytime soon.

Raptors' A.J. Lawson: Joining Raptors on two-way deal
The Raptors signed Lawson to a two-way contract Tuesday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Lawson will join Toronto on its final two-way pact after appearing in 11 G League Tip-Off Tournament outings for the Long Island Nets this season. During those 11 appearances, he averaged 24.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals across 35.1 minutes per contest. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard will bring size, speed and scoring to the squad's backcourt, though he'll likely spend the majority of his time with the club's G League affiliate, Raptors 905. However, Lawson could see playing time right away if Immanuel Quickley (elbow) and Scottie Barnes (ankle) are sidelined for an extended period. The 24-year-old spent the 2023-24 campaign on a two-way pact with Dallas, during which he averaged 3.2 points and 1.2 rebounds across 7.4 minutes per game in 42 regular-season appearances. Lawson has shot 46.1 percent from the field and 30.7 percent from three-point range across 57 regular-season games over his two-year NBA career.

A.J. Lawson: Cut by Dallas
The Mavericks waived Lawson on Friday.
Lawson re-signed with Dallas on a two-way pact with Dallas on Oct. 10, but the Mavericks will instead give his spot to guard Jazian Gortman. Assuming he clears waivers, Lawson will likely join the G League's Texas Legends for the 2024-25 season. The 24-year-old appeared in 42 games for Dallas in 2023-24 and averaged 3.2 points and 1.5 rebounds across 7.4 minutes per game.

Lawson was waived by the Mavericks on Tuesday, Grant Afseth of EssentiallySports.com reports.
Lawson's contract for the 2024-25 season was non-guaranteed, and the Mavericks will go in a new direction. In 42 regular-season appearances in 2023-24, Lawson averaged 3.2 points and 1.2 rebounds while shooting 44.6 percent from the field.

Mavericks' A.J. Lawson: Used sparingly in victory
Lawson accumulated no counting stats in one minute during Monday's 115-105 win over the Jazz.
Lawson continues to be an afterthought in Dallas, playing just one minute for the second straight game. Given he has played in only seven of the past 16 games, logging 16 total minutes, managers can confidently ignore him in all formats.

Mavericks' A.J. Lawson: Upgraded from two-way deal
Lawson agreed Sunday with the Mavericks on a standard multi-year NBA contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Lawson had been in the midst of his second season on a two-way deal with the Mavericks, but Dallas will move him up to its 15-man roster ahead of Tuesday's game against the Pacers. The 23-year-old hadn't been a regular contributor at the NBA level this season, as he had averaged 3.8 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 8.3 minutes per game over 28 total appearances for Dallas. However, he's been a featured player when he's been with the G League's Texas Legends this season, averaging 20.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 three-pointers in 33.7 minutes over seven total appearances.

Mavericks' A.J. Lawson: Scores 17 points off bench Saturday
Lawson ended Saturday's 144-119 win over the Spurs with 17 points (7-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, three assists and two steals over 31 minutes.
Lawson benefited from an expanded role in a blowout game, and he took advantage of the opportunity, delivering his best game of the season. However, there's a chance this might have been an outlier and nothing more, as Lawson is averaging just 11.3 minutes per game across 11 appearances off the bench this season.
