Top Klay Thompson News

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Turns back clock against Boston

Thompson finished Thursday's 127-120 win over the Celtics with 25 points (11-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt), four assists and three rebounds over 29 minutes.

Thompson helped the Mavericks get out to a large lead Thursday, scoring 23 of his 25 points in the first half in a performance reminiscent of his 2021-22 NBA Finals performance against Boston. Thompson has scored at least 20 points in three of his last six outings, and over that span, he has shot 44.0 percent from three on 8.3 3PA/G. He'll look to carry that momentum into Saturday's clash against the Rockets.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Posts dud Sunday

Thompson had two points (1-10 FG, 0-6 3Pt), five rebounds and three assists over 18 minutes during Sunday's 144-101 loss to the Cavaliers.

Thompson had a nightmare showing as the Mavericks were blown out in a hurry. Big changes are coming to Dallas with the Mavericks swapping Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis, both of whom are recovering from their respective injuries. Thompson's usage rate is unlikely to be affected too much, however.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Turns back clock Monday

Thompson racked up 23 points (8-15 FG, 7-12 3Pt), three rebounds, four assists and one block over 24 minutes during Monday's 130-108 victory over the Wizards.

Thompson was coming off a six-point dud (2-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt) in the loss to the Celtics on Saturday, but he bounced back admirably here and posted one of his best showings of the entire season. The veteran reached the 20-point mark just for the seventh time in 2024-25, and the seven made threes tied a season-high output for him in that category. While it'd be unrealistic to believe he'll shoot at this rate on a sustained basis going forward, Thompson still has value as a potential streaming option in most formats solely based on his three-point shooting ability.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Struggles in return

Thompson recorded six points (2-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt), three rebounds and one block in 26 minutes during Saturday's 122-107 loss to the Celtics.

Thompson returned from a two-game absence but failed to have any tangible impact. It's been tough sledding for the veteran in the twilight of his career, as he is averaging just 13.4 points and 2.9 three-pointers in 27.5 minutes per game. Even without Luka Doncic (calf) on the floor, Thompson has been unable to take up much of the slack. At this point, it appears as though his days of being a consistent perimeter scorer are behind him.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Will be limited Saturday

Thompson (ankle) is available for Saturday's game versus the Celtics but will be limited to around 24-to-25 minutes, Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com reports.

Thompson has been upgraded from questionable to available Saturday after missing Dallas' previous two contests due to a sprained left ankle. However, the 34-year-old forward will play slightly less than his season average of 27.6 minutes per contest.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Questionable for Saturday

Thompson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Boston.

Thompson is in jeopardy of missing his third consecutive contest due to a left ankle sprain. If the veteran sharpshooter joins Naji Marshall (illness) on the shelf, Olivier-Maxence Prosper and Kessler Edwards are candidates for increased roles.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Still out against OKC

Thompson (ankle) won't play in Thursday's game versus the Thunder.

Thompson will miss his second straight contest Thursday due to a sprained left ankle. Quentin Grimes will likely draw another start in his absence. Thompson's next chance to suit up is Saturday's matchup with Boston.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Won't play Wednesday

Thompson (ankle) will not play Wednesday against the Timberwolves.

Thompson was previously listed as questionable, but the Mavericks will hold him out for the first leg of this back-to-back set. Naji Marshall (illness) is also out, leaving the Mavericks very thin on the wings. Quentin Grimes will likely see a hefty workload after shaking off his back issue.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Iffy for Wednesday

Thompson is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves with a left ankle sprain.

Thompson has missed only five games this season, but the ankle sprain puts his availability for the front end of a back-to-back set in peril. If Thompson can't play Wednesday, more minutes could open up for Quentin Grimes (back) and Olivier-Maxence Prosper.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Leads Dallas in scoring

Thompson finished with 25 points (9-19 FG, 6-13 3Pt, 1-1 FT), six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 35 minutes during Sunday's 112-101 loss to the Nuggets.

Aside from leading the Mavericks in scoring Sunday, Thompson also managed to bounce back from an ugly showing against the Trail Blazers. This was Thompson's sixth game of the season with at least 20 points, but those have been sporadic throughout the season. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to carry the Mavs offensively even while Luka Doncic (calf) and Kyrie Irving (back) remain sidelined.

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Struggles in win over Portland

Thompson supplied three points (1-6 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal across 22 minutes during Thursday's 117-111 win over the Trail Blazers.

Thompson had one of his worst performances with the Mavericks during Thursday's win against the Trail Blazers. The four-time NBA champion has been streaky this season in Dallas, and that continued against Portland, shooting 1-for-6 from the floor in 22 minutes. The veteran sharpshooter hasn't been able to capitalize on shouldering the load in the absence of fellow stars Luka Doncic (calf) and Kyrie Irving (back).

  • Mavericks' Klay Thompson: Efficient in defeat Wednesday

Thompson racked up 16 points (6-11 FG, 4-8 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 32 minutes during Wednesday's 110-99 loss to the Rockets.

Thompson was efficient in his return to game action after missing Monday's loss to the Kings due to an illness. The sharpshooter struggled with consistency in the early part of the season, though he has found his groove of late, reaching the double-digit scoring mark in each of his last 11 appearances. Over that 11-game span, Thompson has averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals across 27.5 minutes per contest.

Thompson (illness) isn't listed on the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Rockets.

Thompson was a late scratch Monday due to an illness but should return to action Wednesday. The veteran sharpshooter scored in double figures in 10 of 11 December appearances, averaging 15.4 points while shooting 47 percent from the field during that stretch.
