Zach Remillard was called up in June and slashed .252/.295/.320 across 160 plate appearances before being sent back to Triple-A in August. The 29-year-old didn't show much with the bat, but he is capable of playing across the infield and in the corner outfield spots making him a possibility to break camp in a utility role with the rebuilding White Sox in 2024. Remillard's path to playing time was complicated in the off season however, as the White Sox added Nicky Lopez, Paul DeJong and Braden Shewmake to their infield mix.

  • White Sox's Zach Remillard: Pushed off 40-man roster

The White Sox designated Remillard for assignment Monday. As anticipated, Remillard was moved off the 40-man roster so that the White Sox could open up a spot for infielder Danny Mendick, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of Monday's game against the Twins. Assuming Remillard goes unclaimed off waivers, he'll likely remain in the organization and serve as infield depth at Charlotte.

  • White Sox's Zach Remillard: Optioned to Triple-A

Remillard was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte by the White Sox on Monday. Remillard was up with the big club for just a few days and picked up one hit in five at-bats. He'll go back to filling a utility role at Charlotte.

  • White Sox's Zach Remillard: Back in majors

The White Sox selected Remillard's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. The club had Oscar Colas up for one game, but it will now replace him with Remillard, who offers more defensive versatility. Remillard posted a .615 OPS in 54 games for the White Sox last season before being removed from their 40-man roster over the offseason.

  • White Sox's Zach Remillard: Outrighted to Triple-A

Remillard cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He is no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization. Remillard, who turns 30 next month, slashed .252/.295/.320 over 54 games for the White Sox in 2023 while seeing time at five different positions.

  • White Sox's Zach Remillard: Not in lineup

Remillard is out of the lineup Saturday against the Twins. He spent about a month as the White Sox's top option at second base, but Elvis Andrus seems to have reclaimed that role, starting four consecutive games at the keystone. Remillard started at third base Thursday and in right field Friday, so he still has multiple paths to playing time in a utility role, but he'll step out of the lineup Saturday.

  • White Sox's Zach Remillard: Drives in three

Remillard went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and three RBI on Friday against the Cardinals. Remillard has started nine consecutive games, though Friday marked the first time he played in right field. He get the nod over Oscar Colas with a lefty on the mound, so the White Sox appear to be prioritizing Remillard getting consistent run. He's performed well with the opportunity, maintaining a .393 average with eight RBI and three runs scored since taking over an everyday role.

  • White Sox's Zach Remillard: Jumps to leadoff spot

Remillard is starting at second base and batting leadoff Thursday against the Angels. It's his second straight start at second base and his first appearance atop the White Sox lineup. The 29-year-old boasts a .385/.407/.423 batting line through his first 28 major-league plate appearances and could continue to steal playing time from the struggling Elvis Andrus, though Remillard's lackluster minor-league numbers suggest that he is eventually going to run into serious regression.

  • White Sox's Zach Remillard: Productive in win

Remillard went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 11-5 win over the Angels. Remillard's playing time dried up once Tim Anderson got back into the lineup. This was Remillard's third multi-hit effort in 10 contests, and he's now 10-for-26 (.385). The utility man also has two steals on three attempts, four RBI and three runs scored. Regular playing time is likely to remain hard to come by, so it's unlikely the 29-year-old will garner much interest in fantasy.
