Alldred cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports. Alldred was designated for assignment by Pittsburgh on Tuesday, but he'll remain in the organization. The 25-year-old has posted a 2.42 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 22.1 innings over 11 appearances (two start) in the minors this year.... See More ... See Less

Pirates' Cam Alldred: DFA'd by Pittsburgh
Alldred was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Tuesday. Alldred had his contract selected May 11 and delivered a scoreless frame in his MLB debut before being demoted two days later, and he's now been removed from the Pirates' 40-man roster. The 25-year-old has pitched well for Triple-A Indianapolis this season with a 1.33 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across 20.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Cam Alldred: Optioned to Triple-A
Alldred was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday. Alldred had his contract selected Wednesday and made his MLB debut the next day, throwing a scoreless inning of relief against the Reds. He'll head back to the minors as the Pirates clear space for Tyler Beede, who was claimed off waivers from the Giants.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Cam Alldred: Receives call to majors
The Pirates selected Alldred's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday. The 25-year-old lefty will receive his first big-league call-up, joining the Pittsburgh bullpen as a replacement for right-hander Beau Sulser, who was optioned to Indianapolis. Over his eight appearances (one start) at Indianapolis this season, Alldred has turned in a 1.53 ERA and 0.85 WHIP across 17.2 innings. He'll be available as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen in Wednesday's game against the Dodgers behind Dillon Peters, who is scheduled to work as an opener rather than a traditional starter.... Pittsburgh Pirates@Pirates6H agoAs we continue to focus on supporting the improvement of mental health in our community, today is Mental Health Action Day at the ballpark. Pirates Charities & @AHNtoday have provided behavioral health resources to 12,000+ local students through the Chill Mobile Program. https://t.co/mENIT7Jj22

Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG6H agoIt's May 3. I get that. But considering how things have gone recently, plus the opponents, this next Pirates series and homestand are both pretty darn important. My column from yesterday: https://t.co/Ft8fEFb4Gx

Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf1D agoIt's safe to say the Internet wants the Pirates to be more aggressive at the plate. So does Andy Haines. I talked to the Pirates' hitting coach about the team's struggles of late, and what the messaging/work process is to try to get the offense going. https://t.co/Bc1opsSN6t

Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG1D agoThe Pirates are teetering. It’s hard to make a baseball season about one series or homestand, especially in May. But they also need to get right fast. My column: https://t.co/Ft8fEFb4Gx

Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG2D agoWhen hired, Pirates' new regime talked about being player-centric, avoiding one-size-fits-all approaches. What happened? Offensively, it's seeing pitches, working walks & big on swing mechanics. Hard to see how that helps naturally aggressive & more feel-centric hitters.

Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG2D agoPirates started 20-8 last year. Proceeded to go 5-16. Were 25-24 after 49 GP. This year, started 9-2. In the middle of another 5-16 skid. Currently 14-18. Then again, they had two 5-17 stretches in '22. So much for shortening long losing periods.

Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf2D ago“We’re never trying to take a pitch over the heart of the strike zone. … We’re trying to hammer the stuff over the middle of the plate and take the best swing at it.” I talked to Andy Haines about the Pirates’ hitting struggles and his messaging/approach https://t.co/Bc1opsSN6t

Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG2D agoMaybe the Pirates can just call up Paul Skenes -- have not heard anything, otherwise I would report it -- and have him DH on the days he doesn't start. (Kidding, sorta) Remember this: https://t.co/5Qd3PKm0yw

Jason Mackey@JMackeyPG2D agoUnreal. Pirates have now lost 16 of their last 21. Their run differential in that time: -41.

Alex Stumpf@AlexJStumpf2D agoThat's game. A's 4, Pirates 0. The offense had a chance to tie or take the lead in the seventh and eighth, but they couldn't produce. Quinn Priester allowed a couple of solo HR, but turns in a quality start. Pirates are swept by A's and go 1-5 on west coast trip. They are 14-18
