Godoy cleared waivers Monday and accepted an outright assignment to Triple-A Norfolk. Godoy was optioned to Norfolk last week following an abbreviated stay with the big club, but he'll now move off the 40-man roster entirely with the Orioles needing to clear a spot for infielder Jordan Westburg, who was called up from Triple-A. After clearing waivers, Godoy will remain in the organization as catching depth at the Orioles' top affiliate.... See More ... See Less

Orioles' Jose Godoy: Optioned to Triple-A
Godoy was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Godoy was up with the big club as their backup catcher for a couple days, but the Orioles have elected to swap him out with Anthony Bemboom. The 28-year-old will head back to Norfolk to join the affiliate's catching corps.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Jose Godoy: Contract selected from Triple-A
Baltimore selected Godoy's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. Godoy takes the roster spot of James McCann, as McCann was placed on the injured list prior to Sunday's game versus the Cubs with a left ankle sprain. Acquired from the Yankees in a trade at the beginning of June, Godoy will be the backup backstop to Adley Rutschman while he's on the major-league roster.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Jose Godoy: Traded to O's
The Yankees traded Godoy to the Orioles on Friday. Godoy holds an .855 OPS through 41 plate appearances in Triple-A this season. He'll provide the Orioles with organizational depth behind the plate, but Godoy's .334 OPS in the majors will likely prevent the team from bringing him onto the big-league squad anytime soon.... Angels' Jose Godoy: Signed by Angels
Godoy signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Saturday. A 28-year-old catcher who saw time in the majors in 2021 and 2022, Godoy projects as a third or fourth catcher on an organizational depth chart. He has a .123 average and 37.1 percent strikeout rate in 62 MLB plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jose Godoy: Designated for assignment
Godoy was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Tuesday. After slashing .050/.136/.050 over 22 major-league plate appearances in 2022, Godoy will lose his spot on the 40-man roster. The Pirates claimed fellow catcher Ali Sanchez off waivers from Detroit to replace Godoy on the roster.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jose Godoy: Sent down to minors
Godoy was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday. Godoy logged just 20 at-bats in the majors this season, and only one of them resulted in a hit. He will now head to Indianapolis, where he has a .947 OPS over 42 plate appearances in 2022. To fill his roster spot, the Pirates recalled Tucupita Marcano in a corresponding move.... See More ... Pirates' Jose Godoy: Called up, will start Monday
The Pirates selected Godoy's contract from Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday. Godoy will likely step in as the Pirates' No. 2 catcher behind Jason Delay while Tyler Heineman (concussion) resides on the 7-day injured list. The 27-year-old is hitless in 10 big-league at-bats this season but has impressed with a .947 OPS in Indianapolis, albeit in just 42 plate appearances. Godoy will start at catcher and bat ninth in Monday's series opener with the Reds while Delay rests.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jose Godoy: Stays in Pittsburgh system
Godoy cleared waivers Tuesday and was assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports. He'll stick around in the Pittsburgh organization after getting outrighted off the 40-man roster over the weekend. After being claimed off waivers from the Twins earlier this month, Godoy went 0-for-7 with an RBI across five games with Pittsburgh.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jose Godoy: Sent to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Godoy to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday. Godoy will lose his spot on the 26-man active roster with the Pirates bringing back fellow catcher Tyler Heineman (groin) from the 10-day injured list. During his abbreviated stay with the big club after he was claimed off waivers from the Twins earlier this month, Godoy went 0-for-7 with an RBI over four games.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Jose Godoy: Back in lineup Thursday
Godoy (illness) is starting at catcher and batting eighth Thursday versus the Diamondbacks. Godoy is ready to go for Thursday's contest after missing a few games while dealing with heat illness and cramping. He's gone 0-for-5 with two walks and two runs scored in two games with the Pirates since being claimed by the team Aug. 5.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Godoy: Moved off 40-man roster
The Twins designated Godoy for assignment Monday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. He'll forfeit his spot on the 40-man roster to right-hander Aaron Sanchez, whose contract was selected from Triple-A St. Paul in advance of his scheduled start Monday against the Tigers. Godoy made two appearances with the big club earlier this season when the Twins required extra catching depth, but he's otherwise toiled at Triple-A St. Paul throughout the campaign.... See More ... Twins' Jose Godoy: Sent to Triple-A
Godoy was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul following the completion of Wednesday's suspended game on Thursday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Godoy came off the bench during the suspended game but never game to the plate. The 27-year-old has appeared in one game between his two stints in the majors this season, and he'll return to St. Paul, where he has a .241/.313/.276 slash line in eight contests.... See More ... Twins' Jose Godoy: Summoned from minors
The Twins recalled Godoy from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. The addition of Godoy will allow the Twins to deploy Gary Sanchez primarily as a designated hitter while Ryan Jeffers serves as the team's everyday catcher. Sanchez could still be used behind the plate on the days Jeffers is out of the lineup, so Godoy won't be a lock to receive any starts during his upcoming stint with the big club.... See More ... Twins' Jose Godoy: Sent to minors
The Twins optioned Godoy to Triple-A St. Paul following Sunday's 9-3 win over the Rays, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. Minnesota already has two other catchers on the active roster in Gary Sanchez and Ryan Jeffers, so it was an easy decision for the organization to send Godoy back to the minors as it reduces its roster from 28 to 26 ahead of Monday's deadline to do so. Following his April 23 call-up, Godoy appeared in just one game, going 0-for-3 with two walks and two runs.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Godoy: Contract selected by Twins
Godoy's contract was selected by the Twins on Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Godoy was designated for assignment shortly before Opening Day, but he's needed again just over two weeks into the season with Gary Sanchez battling abdominal tightness. Godoy will back up Ryan Jeffers for now, but Sanchez hasn't been placed on the injured list, so Godoy's stay on the active roster could be brief. Jhon Romero (biceps) hit the injured list in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Godoy: Heading to Triple-A
Godoy will report to Triple-A St. Paul after going unclaimed on waivers Sunday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Godoy was designated for assignment last week but will remain in the organization since he wasn't claimed on waivers. The 27-year-old made his big-league debut with Seattle last year and hit .162/.225/.189 in 40 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Godoy: Designated for assignment
Godoy was designated for assignment by the Twins on Monday, Dustin Morse of the Twins Communications reports. After being claimed off waivers by the Twins March 17, the catcher played in seven games this spring, producing two hits and three RBI over eight at-bats. Godoy will now do one of three things, get claimed by another team, report to Triple-A St. Paul or he'll be released outright. In 16 games with the Mariners in 2021, the 27-year-old struggled to a .162 average while striking out 14 times in 37 at-bats.... See More ... See Less -
Twins' Jose Godoy: Claimed by Twins
Godoy was claimed off waivers by the Twins on Thursday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. Godoy was claimed by the Giants on Sunday after being designated for assignment by the Mariners. However, the Giants designated him for assignment Thursday to make room for Joc Pederson on the active roster. The Twins have Gary Sanchez and Ryan Jeffers on their major-league roster after trading Mitch Garver on Saturday, so Godoy is likely to begin the year at Triple-A St. Paul since he has two minor-league options left.... Mariners' Jose Godoy: Removed from 40-man roster
The Mariners designated Godoy for assignment Sunday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Seattle dropped both Godoy and lefty reliever Aaron Fletcher from the 40-man roster, presumably for the purpose of clearing up openings for potential free-agent signings or trade pickups. If Godoy passes through waivers unclaimed, he'll remain in the Seattle organization and provide catching depth at Triple-A Tacoma for the upcoming season. The 27-year-old backstop reached the majors for the first time in 2021, batting .162 across 40 plate appearances over 16 games with the Mariners.... See More ... See Less
