Cardinals' Connor Thomas: Shelved at Triple-A
Triple-A Memphis placed Thomas on its 7-day injured list June 6 due to an unspecified injury. The 25-year-old lefty has yet to start up a rehab assignment in the lower minors and is thus likely at least a week or more away from returning from the IL. Before being shelved with the unspecified injury, Thomas posted a 5.73 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 43:18 K:BB across 59.2 innings at Memphis this season.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Connor Thomas: Assigned to minor-league camp
Thomas was reassigned to minor-league camp Monday, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Thomas was sharp this spring, pitching four scoreless innings while surrendering just one hit while striking out two, but he will begin the 2022 season with Triple-A Memphis. The 23-year-old will likely be on the Cardinal's radar for a potential call-up at any point this season. He spent most of 2021 with Memphis, making 14 starts and appearing in 22 total contests while compiling a 3.10 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and striking out 92 batters over 101.2 innings.... See More ... See Less

Bernie Miklasz@miklasz4H agoThe Cardinals franchise was in a bad spot when DeWitt bought it. He did a great job of putting together a successful operation for one of the greatest eras of Cardinals baseball. But franchise leadership let the system/product go stale. And now it’s rotting. Sad.

Bernie Miklasz@miklasz4H agoState of the Cardinals: a lot of $$$ invested in aging talent. Young “next generation” stars with derails in development. Signing old dudes to sit on bench. Marketing-branding all about former legends; still milking the past. The feel-good pill isn’t working anymore.

Bernie Miklasz@miklasz4H agoAll the rippage over the size of payroll by the one-issue obsessives overlooks how horrendous the Cardinals are at spending — wasting — money. It’s personnel judgment. Personnel mistakes. Too many.
