Bonaci was suspended for the entire 2024 season Wednesday for violating Minor League Baseball's domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports. Bonaci was placed on the restricted list while playing in the Arizona Fall League during October for the violation, and he'll now sit out a full season after the incident was investigated. The 21-year-old had a .297/.354/.464 slash line in 79 games between the High-A and Double-A levels during 2023.... See More ... See Less

Red Sox's Brainer Bonaci: Placed on restricted list
Bonaci was placed on the restricted list Wednesday for violating the minor-league joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy, Alex Speier of the Boston Globe reports. There are no further details at the moment, but Bonaci has been sent home from the Arizona Fall League after appearing in only two games for the Glendale Desert Dogs. The 21-year-old Red Sox prospect slashed .297/.354/.464 with 11 homers and seven steals in 79 games this summer between High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Brainer Bonaci: Makes jump to Portland
The Red Sox promoted Bonaci from High-A Greenville to Double-A Portland on Wednesday. The 21-year-old switch-hitter will move up to Double-A after he showed the ability to tap into more in-game power during his time at Greenville than he had at Single-A Salem a season prior. Despite facing tougher competition in the South Atlantic League, Bonaci had posted an .836 OPS over his 279 plate appearances at Greenville, a big increase from his .782 mark in the Carolina League. However, after stealing 28 bases with Salem a season ago, Bonaci's activity on the basepaths has tapered off in 2023 (six stolen bases in nine attempts).... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Brainer Bonaci: Slaps two homers Friday
Bonaci went 3-for-5 with a double, two home runs and three RBI for High-A Greenville on Friday. Bonaci, who got a late start to the season due to a finger injury, per Christopher Smith of MassLive.com, has been sensational since being activated. "He's got a very advanced, mature approach," Red Sox assistant general manager Eddie Romero said. "He has a very good eye and he just makes really good swing decisions." Following an initial five-game adjustment (.150, 40 K%), the 20-year-old infielder has hit safely in 22 of 26 games, posting a line of .365/.431/.606 with 22 RBI while cutting his strikeout rate to 18.1 percent.... Red Sox's Brainer Bonaci: Back in action at Greenville
Bonaci (personal) is slashing .293/.370/.488 with a home run, a stolen base and a 5:10 BB:K in 11 games since being activated from High-A Greenville's 7-day injured list April 28. Bonaci missed the first three weeks of Greenville's season after he was a late arrival to spring training due to visa issues. The missed time hasn't seemed to affect Bonaci, whose .858 OPS is actually 76 points better than his mark over 494 plate appearances at Single-A Salem in 2022.... See More ... See Less -
Red Sox's Brainer Bonaci: Delayed due to visa issues
Bonaci opened the season on the High-A Greenville injured list after arriving to camp late because of visa issues, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports. It sounds like Bonaci is just going to get a tuneup during extended spring training before making his High-A debut, as no specific injury was reported by Callis. The athletic middle infielder logged a .262/.397/.385 slash line with six home runs and 28 steals in 108 games at Single-A last year.... See More ... See Less
