Fulmer elected free agency Tuesday. Fulmer had been outrighted off the Angels' 40-man roster and is now out of the organization altogether. The 29-year-old holds a career 6.14 ERA over parts of seven major-league seasons.... See More ... See Less

Angels' Carson Fulmer: Blanks A's over five innings
Fulmer (1-1) got the win over the Athletics on Sunday after tossing five shutout innings while allowing just two hits and three walks. He struck out three. Fulmer handled the Athletics and picked up his first win since 2019 when he was with the White Sox. The former first round pick has not been effective as a big leaguer and struggled mightily at Triple-A Salt Lake with a 5.27 ERA and 1.78 WHIP in 2023. He should not be in consideration to make the 2024 opening day roster, even if the Angels go into rebuilding mode.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Carson Fulmer: Starting finale vs. A's
Fulmer is starting Sunday's game against the Athletics. The Angels have nothing to play for, and they will give Fulmer a shot as a starter in what should be a favorable matchup on the last day of the season. Expectations should be very low for Fulmer, who logged a 5.27 ERA at Triple-A and has a career 6.37 ERA in 135.2 career innings in the majors. He logged four innings against the Twins on Sept. 24 and then threw one inning against the Rangers on Sept. 25, so he theoretically should be rested enough to go four or five innings against Oakland.... Angels' Carson Fulmer: Latches on with Angels
Fulmer signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Monday. Fulmer was with the Mariners in spring training before being released shortly after Opening Day. He hasn't pitched anywhere since then but is now likely to report to Triple-A Salt Lake with his new organization to provide some relief depth.... See More ... See Less -
Carson Fulmer: Cut loose by Seattle
The Mariners released Fulmer on Wednesday. Seattle opted to cut ties with Fulmer after getting a chance to evaluate him in spring training following his signing with the organization in February. The 29-year-old right-hander will look to land a minor-league deal elsewhere.... See More ... See Less -
Mariners' Carson Fulmer: Gets minors deal from Mariners
Fulmer signed a minor-league contract with the Mariners on Friday. It's not clear whether he's been invited to major-league spring training. The 29-year-old spent all of 2022 at Triple-A Oklahoma City in the Dodgers organization, posting a 2.86 ERA in 49 appearances. Fulmer, a first-round pick of the White Sox in 2015, has never found his footing at the big-league level, holding a 6.41 ERA across parts of six seasons.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Carson Fulmer: Re-signs with Dodgers
Fulmer was re-signed by the Dodgers on Friday, Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports. Fulmer was reportedly released earlier in the day, but the Dodgers abruptly brought the right-hander back in time for Triple-A Oklahoma City's evening game, during which he pitched two scoreless innings. Fulmer was called up to the big club in late April, but he didn't get into any contests with Los Angeles. He's posted a 1.98 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB across 13.2 innings in the minors this season.... See More ... See Less -
Carson Fulmer: Released by Dodgers
Fulmer was released by the Dodgers on Friday, Kyle Glaser of Baseball America reports. Fulmer was designated for assignment by the Dodgers in early May, and he'll now be free to seek out another organization. The 28-year-old was a first-round pick by the White Sox in 2015, but he's failed to carve out a meaningful role in the majors while making appearances in six consecutive seasons. The right-hander is unlikely to have a significant role if he lands another contract.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Carson Fulmer: Clears waivers, moved to Triple-A
Fulmer cleared waivers Thursday and was outrighted to Triple-A Oklahoma City, independent baseball writer Blake Harris reports. Fulmer received a brief call-up to the Dodgers this past weekend but didn't appear in any games. He was subsequently designated for assignment but will remain with the organization. Fulmer has tossed 11.2 innings with Oklahoma City this season, posting a 2.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Carson Fulmer: Called up by Dodgers
Fulmer was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Fulmer was effective in eight appearances with Oklahoma City, so the Dodgers decided to add him to the roster and demote fellow reliever Andre Jackson. Nine other relievers reside in the Dodgers' bullpen, but it seems likely the club will want to see how he fares in his return to the big leagues.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Carson Fulmer: Sent to minors
Fulmer was sent to minor-league camp Saturday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. The eighth overall pick in 2015 by the White Sox has a career 6.41 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 130.2 innings. Fulmer threw three scoreless innings with one hit, one walk and four strikeouts in spring training.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Carson Fulmer: Scooped by Dodgers
Fulmer has been selected by the Dodgers in the second round of the 2021 Rule 5 draft, JJ Cooper of Baseball America reports. Fulmer was a first-round pick by the White Sox in 2015, and he's spent parts of the last six seasons in the big leagues. However, he's failed to generate much success at the top level. The right-hander posted a 6.66 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 25.2 innings across 20 relief appearances with the Reds last year. However, he should be in the mix for a low-leverage relief role with the Dodgers at some point in 2022.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Carson Fulmer: Stays in organization
Fulmer was outrighted to Triple-A Louisville after clearing waivers Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Fulmer will remain in the Reds organization after none of the other 29 teams were willing to trade for him or scoop him up off waivers when he was designated for assignment Friday. Before being dropped from the 40-man roster, the right-hander made 20 appearances out of the Cincinnati bullpen, posting a 6.66 ERA and 1.52 WHIP.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Carson Fulmer: Designated for assignment
Fulmer was designated for assignment by the Reds on Friday. Fulmer had been with the team since the start of the season, throwing 25.2 innings across 20 relief appearances, but he failed to find much success. He struggled to a 6.66 ERA , striking out 20.7 percent of opposing batters while walking 11.2 percent. His career 6.41 ERA means it's likely he passes through waivers unclaimed. Brad Brach's contract was selected in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Carson Fulmer: Gets Opening Day bullpen spot
The Reds will include Fulmer in their Opening Day bullpen, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Since last summer, Fulmer has bounced around between five organizations, but the Reds seem committed to hanging on to him, at least to begin the season. After coming over in a waiver claim from Pittsburgh earlier this month, Fulmer made three relief appearances for the Reds in the Cactus League, giving up a run on one hit and two walks over three innings. The 27-year-old will likely work in low-leverage situations out of Cincinnati's bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Carson Fulmer: Claimed by Cincy
Fulmer was claimed off waivers by the Reds on Sunday. The 27-year-old spent time with the Tigers, Orioles and Pirates last season, and he'll now receive a chance with the Reds after being waived by the Pirates. Fulmer appeared in 10 games during 2020 and gave up five runs with an 11:5 K:BB over 10.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Carson Fulmer: Claimed by Pirates
The Pirates claimed Fulmer off waivers from the Orioles on Monday. It's been quite a busy year for Fulmer, who failed to make the White Sox's Opening Day roster and has since passed through the Tigers', Pirates' and Orioles' organizations before winding up back in Pittsburgh. The fact that he's been let go by those three teams is a pretty good indicator of where his value stands at the moment. His 6.34 ERA in 105.0 career big-league innings explains why he's a fringe option at best, though he does have a respectable 4.35 ERA and an 11:5 K:BB in 10.1 frames this year.... See More ... Orioles' Carson Fulmer: Gets activated
Fulmer was activated by the Orioles on Tuesday. Fulmer was claimed by the team on Sept. 5 and is now officially active on the roster. The Orioles are his fourth team this season, as he's also appeared on the roster of the Tigers, White Sox and Pirates. He's likely to serve as bullpen depth in Baltimore.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Carson Fulmer: Claimed by Orioles
Fulmer was claimed off waivers by the Orioles on Saturday. Fulmer was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Wednesday after he failed to make an appearance with the team. He's out of major-league options, so he'll join the 28-man roster upon his addition and should play a lower-leverage role in the bullpen.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Carson Fulmer: Designated for assignment
Fulmer was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Wednesday. Fulmer finds himself designated for the third time this season, as he was waived by the White Sox after failing to make their Opening Day roster and subsequently claimed and cut by the Tigers less than a month later. The Pirates claimed him in late August, but he didn't wind up making a single appearance for the team. The move creates a spot on the active roster for Joe Musgrove (triceps) to return from the injured list.... See More ... See Less
