Davis elected free agency Oct. 6. The 32-year-old catcher will presumably have to settle for a minor-league deal in free agency this winter. Pirates' Taylor Davis: Remains in organization
Davis was outrighted to Triple-A Indianapolis after clearing waivers Sunday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports. Davis won't immediately report to Indianapolis, as the Pirates plan to keep him on their taxi squad while the team heads to the West Coast for a seven-game road trip during the upcoming week. The 32-year-old didn't make any appearances for the Bucs during his brief stay on the active roster before he was designated for assignment Friday.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Taylor Davis: Designated for assignment

Pirates' Taylor Davis: Contract selected by Bucs
Davis' contract was selected from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday. Davis appeared in two games for the Pirates last year and will rejoin the major-league roster after Tyler Heineman (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday. Pirates' Taylor Davis: Sent to minors
The Pirates reassigned Davis to minor-league camp Tuesday. Davis was one of three non-roster catchers who was sent to minor-league camp Tuesday, leaving the Pirates without an obvious No. 2 option behind top backstop Roberto Perez with Opening Day just two days away. Pittsburgh will most likely explore the trade or free-agent market for another option to slot behind Perez on the depth chart.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Taylor Davis: In Pirates camp on NRI deal
The Pirates signed Davis to a minor-league contract March 11. Davis has been competing with Michael Perez for the Pirates' backup catching job behind Roberto Perez. Davis was released by the Pirates on Tuesday. Davis was acquired by the Pirates from the Orioles in June and appeared in two major-league games last season. He spent most of 2021 at Triple-A and hit .248/.344/.325 in 51 games.... See More ... See Less -
Pirates' Taylor Davis: Contract selected by Pittsburgh
Davis had his contract selected by the Pirates on Monday. Pirates' Taylor Davis: Traded to Pirates
The Orioles traded Davis to the Pirates in exchange for Jose Berroa on Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Davis joins the Pirates organization in the midst of a solid offensive season, as he's hit .289 across 43 Triple-A at-bats so far in 2021.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Taylor Davis: Catches on with Baltimore
Davis agreed Thursday with the Orioles on a minor-league contract, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports. The exact terms of Davis' deal aren't known, but it likely includes an invitation to big-league spring training. Davis had previously spent his entire professional career with the Cubs organization since signing as an amateur free agent in July 2011. The 30-year-old backstop received the majority of his work at Triple-A Iowa over the past three seasons, but he has seen limited big-league action in each of those years, submitting a .222/.256/.333 slash line over 39 career plate appearances with Chicago.... Cubs' Taylor Davis: Clears waivers
Davis cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports. Davis unsurprisingly went unclaimed on waivers, as he's 29 years old and has just 39 big-league plate appearances under his belt. He'll remain as organizational depth for the Cubs.... See More ... Davis was designated for assignment Saturday. Davis was removed from the 40-man roster to clear a spot for Danny Hultzen, whose contract was purchased in a corresponding move. The backstop went hitless in three at-bats during his most recent stint with Chicago.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Taylor Davis: Likely to return Sunday
Davis is likely to be recalled Sunday, Bruce Miles of the Chicago Daily Herald reports. Willson Contreras left Saturday's game against the Brewers with what appears to be a hamstring injury. He hasn't been placed on the injured list yet, but a move is expected, and he's least expected to be out until undergoing an MRI on Monday, so the Cubs will need another catcher. Davis will likely back up Victor Caratini until Contreras returns to action.... See More ... See Less -

Cubs' Taylor Davis: Called up Saturday
Davis' contract was selected by the Cubs on Saturday. Davis appeared in eight games for the Cubs last season, going 2-for-13 in his only big-league experience to date. Cubs' Taylor Davis: Recovering from concussion
Davis is expected to resume baseball activities Saturday after suffering a concussion during batting practice last Friday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports. Davis said that Wednesday was the first day that he felt "like a human being" after battling concussion-type symptoms for the better part of the past week. The 27-year-old will likely need a little more time before returning to Cactus League games.... See More ... See Less -
Cubs' Taylor Davis: Returns to Cubs on NRI deal
Davis signed a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training with the Cubs on Friday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports. Davis was recently non-tendered by the Cubs at the beginning of the month, but the club will bring him back on a minor-league deal after he spent most of the 2017 season with Triple-A Iowa. During that time, he slashed .297/.357/.429 with six home runs and 62 RBI. He wound up playing in eight games for the big-league team as well, but there won't be much use for him at the major-league level with Willson Contreras and Victor Caratini on the roster....
