  • Michael Bolsinger: To pitch in Japan

Bolsinger has agreed to pitch with Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan for the 2018 season, the team's official Twitter account reports.

He was outrighted off the Blue Jays' 40-man roster in August, and opted for a steady paycheck in Japan over having to work his way back to the big leagues. The 29-year-old righty has a career 4.92 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 210 strikeouts in 230.2 MLB innings.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Outrighted to Buffalo

Bolsinger was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday.

After clearing waivers earlier in the week, the Blue Jays will retain Bolsinger within their system as a member of their Triple-A club. Bolsinger owns a strong 1.60 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP across 41.3 innings at Triple-A this season.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Designated for assignment Saturday

Bolsinger was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Saturday, Sportsnet.ca reports.

Bolsinger, who was also DFA'd and sent to Triple-A in June, has had a rough 2017 campaign with the Blue Jays, posting a 6.31 ERA over 11 appearances (five starts) while struggling with command en route to 27 walks. After allowing four earned runs on four hits and three walks in Friday's blowout loss to Houston, the 29-year-old will likely find himself back in the minors -- assuming he clears waivers. Taylor Cole will take his spot in the Toronto bullpen.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Could enter rotation following Liriano trade

Bolsinger could be moved into the Blue Jays' rotation after the team traded Francisco Liriano to the Astros on Monday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

Bolsinger was activated from the 10-day disabled list over the weekend after he was briefly sidelined due to right knee inflammation. He made an appearance in Sunday's win over the Angels, covering 2.1 innings and giving up one run. Though Bolsinger has submitted an underwhelming 5.49 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 10 appearances (five starts) for the Blue Jays this season, there aren't many other appealing alternatives on the 40-man roster, so he could get the first crack at filling the void left by Liriano's departure. If that's the case, Bolsinger would have a tough test right off the bat, as he'd be in line for a road start against the American League-leading Astros this upcoming weekend.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Activated from disabled list

Bolsinger (knee) was activated from the 10-day DL on Saturday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Bolsinger returns having bypassed a minor-league rehab assignment after missing the minimum 10 days due to knee inflammation. He should be fresh and ready to provide length out of the bullpen with Chris Smith optioned down.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Gives up walkoff home run

Bolsinger struck out six but gave up a walkoff home run in 3.1 innings of relief during Tuesday's marathon loss to the Red Sox.

Bolsinger, a former starter, was called upon to pitch several innings of the game. He found success by pounding the strike zone with 34 of his 45 pitches going for strikes before giving up the home run to Hanley Ramirez. Bolsinger's ability to make occasional spot starts helps his fantasy value, but his low strikeout rate of 21.5 percent limits his potential for owners moving forward.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Placed on disabled list

Bolsinger was placed on the 10-day disabled list prior to Wednesday's game against the Red Sox due to right knee inflammation, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

It remains to be seen how serious this injury is for the right-hander after landing on the DL following Tuesday's loss. Bolsinger gave up the walk-off home run in the 15th inning against the Red Sox, and has been struggling at the mound during his last couple appearances, allowing eight earned runs over his last 12.1 innings of work. In a corresponding move, the team recalled Cesar Valdez from Triple-A Buffalo.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Rejoins big club

Bolsinger had his contract purchased from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Bolsinger has pitched well for the Bisons recently, earning him a second shot with the Blue Jays this season. The 29-year-old compiled a 5.61 ERA and 1.79 WHIP across 25.2 innings in his first stint with the big club this season. He's served primarily as a starter this year, so he'll be able to offer some length out of Toronto's bullpen if that's where he ends up. Glenn Sparkman was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Sent to Triple-A after clearing waivers

Bolsinger has cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.

Wednesday marked the second time this season that he cleared waivers prior to joining Buffalo. Although there were spurts of decency, Bolsinger's overall performance has been largely disappointing with the Jays in 2017. He's posted a 5.61 ERA and a 1.79 WHIP across 25.2 innings.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Sent off 40-man roster

Bolsinger was designated for assignment Thursday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Bolsinger has struggled mightily in his past two seasons in the big leagues, and despite fanning seven hitters in Wednesday's no decision, there's simply no room for him on the roster with Francisco Liriano (shoulder) returning from the disabled list to start Friday. Bolsinger could create some intrigue on waivers given his experience and success in the minors, but it's tough to see him getting too many more shots in the big leagues until he proves he can sustain his success over a longer period of time. Leonel Campos will take his spot on the roster for the time being.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Fans seven in Wednesday's no-decision

Bolsinger (0-2) allowed three runs on four hits and four walks over 5.1 innings while striking out seven Wednesday, settling for a no-decision in a 5-4 win over the Reds.

With Francisco Liriano (shoulder) on target to come off the DL for Friday's game against the Yankees, Bolsinger may well have made his last start for the Jays for the time being. The right-hander hasn't completed six innings in any of his five big-league starts this season, and there's been no word yet whether he'll remain in the Toronto bullpen or head back to Triple-A Buffalo.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Fails to complete five innings Friday

Bolsinger (0-2) allowed three runs, two of which were earned, on six hits and four walks while striking out two over 4.2 innings, but didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Rangers.

Bolsinger struggled to keep runners off the basepaths, leading to his exit from the contest before he was able to finish five innings. He's failed to post a quality start in any of his four outings, and with a 5.75 ERA, he's not a recommended fantasy option. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the Reds.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Surrenders four runs to Orioles

Bolsinger allowed four runs on six hits and five walks while striking out five batters over 5.1 innings during Saturday's loss to Baltimore. He didn't factor into the decision.

With a 6.32 ERA, 1.79 WHIP and 12:11 K/BB rate, Bolsinger will need to show more on the mound to warrant attention outside of the deepest fantasy settings. He threw just 56 of 102 pitches for strikes Saturday and is up to a 6.3 BB/9 for the year. Until Bolsinger shows better control, it'll be difficult for him to provide serviceable numbers. If he sticks in the rotation, a home date against Texas is on deck.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Allows six runs in loss to Braves

Bolsinger (0-2) allowed six runs (five earned) on eight hits and two walks across 4.2 innings in Monday's loss to the Braves. He struck out three.

Bolsinger struggled with his location in this one, throwing 60 percent of his pitches for strikes but constantly operating under duress and allowing runs in four different innings. He particularly struggled in the fifth, allowing two runs as four straight men reached base before his removal with two outs. Bolsinger turned in a decent start in his season debut last week, but he came crashing down to earth in this one and will face another tough task on the road against the Orioles on Saturday.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Joining starting rotation

Bolsinger will join Toronto's rotation while Francisco Liriano (shoulder) is on the disabled list, Andrew Zwelling of Sportsnet reports.

Bolsinger has started one game this season. Although he was handed a loss in his season debut against the Indians, Bolsinger allowed just two runs over 5.2 innings and struck out four batters. He'll take the mound Monday when the Blue Jays take on the Braves.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Loses in season debut

Bolsinger (0-1) allowed two earned runs on three hits and four walks over 5.2 innings in Tuesday's loss to Cleveland. He struck out four.

Bolsinger was solid in a spot start for Toronto, but was victimized by control issues throughout the night. Four walks helped him to amass 92 pitches before his departure in the sixth inning. The 28-year-old isn't likely to stick in the rotation with Aaron Sanchez (split nail) nearing his return from the disabled list.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Activated for Tuesday start

Bolsinger's contract was officially purchased from Triple-A ahead of Tuesday's game against the Indians, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

As expected, Bolsinger was added to the Blue Jays' roster before his scheduled spot start Tuesday. Bolsinger had a 1.46 ERA and 18 strikeouts across across 12.1 innings (four appearances, two starts) at Triple-A Buffalo before being promoted. He likely won't stick in the rotation for an extended period of time with Aaron Sanchez (finger) nearing a return from the disabled list.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Named Tuesday's starter

Manager John Gibbons said Bolsinger will start Tuesday against the Indians, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

The Blue Jays are expected to officially purchase Bolsinger's contract from Triple-A Buffalo in the hours before Tuesday's game, but it seems unlikely that he'll remain in the rotation for an extended period of time. Aaron Sanchez (finger) is coming along nicely in his recovery from a split nail and could be ready to come off the disabled list this upcoming weekend against the Mariners, which would make either Bolsinger or Joe Biagini the most likely candidates to lose out on a starting role.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Poised to start Tuesday

Bolsinger was present in the Blue Jays' clubhouse Monday and is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to start Tuesday against the Indians, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.

Bolsinger is only expected to receive one start with the Blue Jays before heading back to Buffalo, as the big club expects to activate Aaron Sanchez (finger) from the disabled list over the weekend. Over four appearances (two starts) with Buffalo this season, Bolsinger has delivered a 1.46 ERA and compiled 18 strikeouts in 12.1 innings.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Bolsinger: Likely candidate for Monday's start

Bolsinger is the likely candidate to get called up for the Jays' game against Cleveland on Monday, Amy Moritz of The Buffalo News reports.

Bolsinger was originally scheduled to start for Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, but manager Bobby Meacham made an afternoon switch and pinned T.J. House as the starter. That move would suggest word came from the top that Bolsinger's services would be needed. The team hasn't confirmed the move yet, but an announcement should come this weekend. The 28-year-old has started 36 games over the past three MLB seasons (one year with the Diamondbacks and the last two with the Dodgers), but has yet to make his debut with the Jays.
