Drury (calf) is back in the Angels' Cactus League lineup Tuesday, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. • Angels' Brandon Drury: Sitting with sore calf

Drury, who fouled a ball off his calf Friday, is not in Saturday's lineup against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. He was expected to be in Saturday's lineup, so his absence suggests the team is either being extra careful and/or Drury's calf was hurting more than anticipated. It seems like a day-to-day situation until further notice.

Angels manager Phil Nevin said Drury left Friday's game with a tightened calf but will return to the lineup Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Drury fouled a ball off his calf, and it tightened up on him in the third inning. It sounds like Drury has avoided a significant injury.

  • Angels' Brandon Drury: Joining Halos

Drury agreed to a two-year, $17 million contract with the Angels on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. The 30-year-old split the 2022 campaign between Cincinnati and San Diego, and he earned the inaugural Silver Slugger for a utility player with a .263/.320/.492 slash line, 28 home runs and 87 RBI in 138 games. Luis Rengifo enjoyed a mini breakout with a .723 OPS in 2022, but Drury could now be the favorite to start at second base. Drury should see action at both infield corners, especially given third baseman Anthony Rendon playing fewer than 60 games in each of the past two seasons.

  • Padres' Brandon Drury: Knocks in three during Game 2

Drury went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and three RBI during Wednesday's Game 2 of the NLCS in the 8-5 win over the Phillies. Drury had been just 1-for-15 in the postseason and 4-for-31 dating back to the beginning of October, so Game 2's outburst was a pleasant surprise for the Padres. The 30-year-old veteran has played for six teams in eight seasons but has minimal playoff experience with just six plate appearances prior to the 2022 postseason. Look to see if Drury can follow up Game 2's offensive explosion as the NLCS progresses.
