Kiermaier started the past five games and will receive a day off after he went 4-for-16 with a double, a triple, a solo homer and a stolen base during that stretch. Daulton Varsho will shift to center field while Whit Merrifield (groin) receives a start in left against Rangers southpaw Jordan Montgomery.... See More ... See Less

Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Goes yard Sunday
Kiermaier went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Royals. Kiermaier's home run proved to be the difference after a seventh-inning solo blast put the Blue Jays up 3-2. It was his second long ball in eight games this month, and he's hitting .346/.370/.731 with three RBI, six runs and a 1:5 BB:K over that span. His stolen base was his 13th of the year, as he's notched double-digits for the first time since 2019. For the season, the 33-year-old is slashing .274/.332/.436 with eight homers, 34 RBI, 51 runs and a 25:74 BB:K in 353 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Sitting out versus lefty
Kiermaier is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Oakland, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. He'll grab a seat as the Athletics send left-hander JP Sears to the mound. Daulton Varsho will slide over to center field, with Whit Merrifield playing left and Davis Schneider occupying second base.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Collects three hits in win
Kiermaier went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Athletics. Kiermaier has gone 6-for-15 (.400) over five games in September. The outfielder got the scoring started Tuesday with an RBI single in the seventh inning, sparking a six-run rally. He's hitting .274 with a .760 OPS, seven home runs, 33 RBI, 49 runs scored and 12 stolen bases over 109 contests overall. Kiermaier should continue to be a lineup regular versus right-handed pitchers. He was in the starting nine Tuesday versus lefty Ken Waldichuk, making this the third time in the last four games against southpaws that Kiermaier has started.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Homers in loss
Kiermaier went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Rockies. Kiermaier is finding some traction at the plate, going 5-for-14 (.357) over his last four games. The homer was his second in the last nine games, and he's up to seven long balls on the year. The veteran outfielder is slashing .271/.332/.422 with 32 RBI, 47 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, 15 doubles and five triples over 335 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Idle versus lefty
Kiermaier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals. With the Blue Jays and Nationals getting together for a day game after a night game and with Washington bringing a southpaw (Patrick Corbin) to the hill, the lefty-hitting Kiermaier will exit the starting nine. Toronto will roll out an outfield of Whit Merrifield, Daulton Varsho and Cavan Biggio from left to right in the series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Sitting again Sunday
Kiermaier is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians. Though he sat out Saturday's 8-3 win while lefty Logan Allen took the hill for Cleveland, the lefty-hitting Kiermaier finds himself on the bench for the series finale versus a right-handed starting pitcher (Noah Syndergaard). The Blue Jays haven't indicated that Kiermaier is dealing with a new injury, so he could just be getting some extra maintenance after he returned just over a week ago from a stint on the injured list due to a right elbow laceration.... Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Not starting Saturday
Kiermaier will hit the bench Saturday against Cleveland. Kiermaier will hit the bench against lefty Logan Allen, with Daulton Varsho sliding to center field and Whit Merrifield moving out to left. Kiermaier has now sat against each of the last four southpaws the Blue Jays have faced.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Day off Thursday
Kiermaier isn't in the Blue Jays' lineup Thursday against the Orioles. Kiermaier is 3-for-15 with a homer and three RBI since returning from the injured list Friday, and he'll get a breather for Thursday's series finale. Daulton Varsho will slide to center field in Kiermaier's absence, moving Whit Merrifield into left while Cavan Biggio starts at the keystone.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Swats sixth homer
Kiermaier went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Reds. The center fielder got a five-homer barrage for the Blue Jays started when he took Hunter Greene deep in the second inning. It was Kiermaier's first hit in two starts since coming off the IL on Friday, but since the All-Star break he still sports a solid .271/.333/.407 slash line in 24 games with two home runs, one steal, eight runs and 10 RBI.... Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Resting Saturday
Kiermaier will head to the bench Saturday against the Reds. Kiermaier returned from a minimum-length trip to the injured list Friday after recovering from an elbow laceration. The veteran outfielder won't be asked to start on consecutive days immediately following his return, so it will be Daulton Varsho in center field Saturday with Whit Merrifield taking Varsho's usual spot in left.... Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Activated from 10-day IL
Toronto activated Kiermaier (elbow) from the 10-day injured list Friday. Kiermaier was out for exactly 10 days because of a right elbow laceration. He is starting in center field and batting ninth in his return to the Blue Jays' active roster Friday night against the Reds.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Expects to return Friday
Kiermaier (elbow) said he expects to be activated from the injured list Friday, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports. Kiermaier took batting practice on the field ahead of Tuesday's game against Philadelphia, and he said he felt good swinging despite still having eight stitches in his right arm. The 33-year-outfielder is slashing .294/.362/.392 since the All-Star break and will slide back in as Toronto's primary center fielder once he returns from the IL.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Sitting Monday with elbow issue
Kiermaier (elbow) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians. Kiermaier will need at least one game off to recover from the right elbow laceration he suffered in Sunday's 13-1 win over the Red Sox. He required eight stitches to seal the wound, but the injury isn't believed to be anything that will force the veteran outfielder to the injured list. With Kiermaier on the bench Monday, upstart rookie Davis Schneider will be awarded a fourth straight start, this time in left field after he had previously played second base in the last three contests.... Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Day-to-day with elbow laceration
Kiermaier was removed from Sunday's 13-1 win over the Red Sox in the sixth inning due to a right elbow laceration, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. He went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run before he was removed from the contest. Kiermaier opened a wound on his elbow when he collided with the outfield wall while flagging down a Luis Urias flyball. He required eight stitches to close the gash on his elbow and is considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's series opener in Cleveland. Daulton Varsho will likely serve as the Blue Jays' primary center fielder if Kiermaier needs to miss any length of time.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Not in Saturday's lineup
Kiermaier is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Red Sox. Right-hander John Schreiber is opening the contest for Boston, but lefty Chris Murphy is expected to work as the primary pitcher. Daulton Varsho will shift to center field with Kiermaier on the bench while Whit Merrifield starts in left.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Sitting versus lefty
Kiermaier is not in the lineup Friday at Boston. Daulton Varsho will patrol center field and bat ninth as the Blue Jays face off against the Red Sox and left-hander James Paxton. The lefty-swinging Kiermaier continues to see most of his playing time versus right-handers.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Takes seat against lefty
Kiermaier is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Though he drew the start in center field against Angels lefty Reid Detmers in Saturday's 6-1 win and went 1-for-4 with a run scored, the lefty-hitting Kiermaier will bow out of the starting nine Sunday while Los Angeles brings another southpaw (Tyler Anderson) to the hill. Daulton Varsho replaces Kiermaier in center field and as the Blue Jays' No. 9 batter.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: On bench Wednesday
Kiermaier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers. Kiermaier will get a breather for the matinee game after he went 5-for-14 with a solo home run, a double and two walks while starting each of the last four contests. With Kiermaier on the bench, the Blue Jays will roll out an outfield of Whit Merrifield, Daulton Varsho and George Springer from left to right.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Kevin Kiermaier: Pops fifth homer
Kiermaier went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in Saturday's 9-8 loss to the Mariners. The veteran outfielder launched one of three long balls off Logan Gilbert in the fifth inning. Kiermaier snapped a 39-game homer drought in the process, a stretch in which he slashed just .196/.279/.272. His .758 OPS on the season is still his best mark since 2017, but Kiermaier's added only five homers, 11 steals, 22 RBI and 37 runs in 82 contests to his ledger.... See More ... See Less

Andrew Stoeten@AndrewStoeten1H agoLove going straight back to trying to make everyone as miserable as I am when the Blue Jays fall behind in a game. “It’s like riding a bike!” I say as I think about all the ways I’m sure they’ve already lost the rest of their games before even stepping on the field.
