  • Rangers' Tony Sanchez: Assigned to minor-league camp

Sanchez was assigned to minor-league camp Friday.

Sanchez never seemed to have much chance to capitalize on his big-league camp invitation and make the roster over either Isiah Kiner-Falefa or Jeff Mathis. The 30-year-old hasn't appeared in more than three major-league games in a season since 2014.

  • Rangers' Tony Sanchez: Signs with Texas

The Rangers signed Sanchez to a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training, Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Sanchez was acquired by Texas from Cincinnati last season and appeared in 50 games with Triple-A Round Rock. The graduate of Boston College has played 52 career games in the majors and could factor into the Rangers' plans at catcher. Texas will have four catchers with major-league experience entering spring training: Sanchez, Jeff Mathis, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and non-roster addition Jett Bandy.

  • Rangers' Tony Sanchez: Traded to Rangers

Sanchez was traded to the Rangers on Monday for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Sanchez will report to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday. The 29-year-old backstop spent the majority of 2017 with Triple-A Salt Lake, hitting .272/.355/.374 with four home runs in 284 plate appearances. He should provide organizational catching depth for the Rangers.

  • Reds' Tony Sanchez: Agrees to deal with Cincinnati

Sanchez signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Wednesday, John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Sanchez has appeared in 52 major-league games to date, but only four in the last three seasons. During the 2017 campaign, he slashed .272/.355/.374 with four home runs and 40 RBI at the Triple-A level, which is where he will likely find himself at the beginning of this year. The 29-year-old will provide added organizational depth for the Reds, with little chance to make much of a fantasy impact.

  • Braves' Tony Sanchez: Rejoins big club

Sanchez's contract was purchased from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, MLB.com reports.

The Braves removed Sanchez from the 40-man roster Sept. 12, but he'll regain his spot Monday and rejoin the big club to provide catching depth over the season's final week. Sanchez, who slashed .272/.355/.374 at Triple-A Salt Lake in the Angels' organization before being dealt to the Braves in late August, could still be non-tendered in the offseason.

  • Braves' Tony Sanchez: Joins Atlanta on Friday

Sanchez was promoted to the big leagues prior to Friday's game against the Cubs, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

After coming to the Braves on Thursday in exchange for Brandon Phillips, Sanchez will make the trek to the Windy City to serve as added depth behind the plate for his new team. The 29-year-old hasn't played in a major-league game since 2015, when he was a member of the Pirates, but he was hitting .272 with four home runs and 40 RBI during 70 games with Triple-A Salt Lake this season.

  • Braves' Tony Sanchez: Dealt to Atlanta

Sanchez was traded to the Braves on Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

He was the other piece in the deal that sent Brandon Phillips to the Angels. Sanchez, who joined the Angels this offseason, slashed a respectable .272/.355/.374 over 243 at-bats at Triple-A Salt Lake this year. He'll add organizational depth behind the plate for the Braves.

  • Angels' Tony Sanchez: Signs with Angels

Sanchez signed a minor league deal with the Angels on Friday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

Sanchez split the 2016 season in the Blue Jays and Giants' organizations, struggling to stay above the Mendoza Line in Triple-A at both stops. He's had a few brief stints in the majors, but at this point the 28-year-old figures to serve primarily as organizational depth behind the plate and will likely open the season back at Triple-A.

  • Giants' Tony Sanchez: Outrighted to minors

Sanchez was outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Sanchez split the 2016 season between two organizations, those being the Blue Jays and the Giants. He played with each clubs' respective Triple-A affiliate, but failed to make much of an impact. Over 61 games, he hit just .201/.351/.399 and posted a 22 percent K-rate.

  • Giants' Tony Sanchez: Promoted to majors

Sanchez was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Sanchez's performance at the Triple-A level this season left much to be desired. Between Triple-A Buffalo and Sacramento, Sanchez posted a .201/.298/.317 line over 61 games and recorded a 21.6-percent strikeout rate.

  • Giants' Tony Sanchez: Signed to minor-league contract

Sanchez signed a minor-league contract with the Giants, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.

Sanchez posted a poor line of .201/.292/.309 over 45 games with Toronto's Triple-A affiliate in Buffalo before being released on July 28. With Buster Posey at catcher for the Giants, the chances of Sanchez making it up to The Show this season are very slim. In the meantime, he'll simply provide depth behind the plate at Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Blue Jays' Tony Sanchez: Signs minor league deal with Toronto

Sanchez signed a minor league deal with the Blue Jays on Friday, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Sanchez was released by the Pirates last month but will have a chance to catch on with the Blue Jays, as the deal includes an invite to spring training. The 27-year-old, a former first-round pick, appeared in only three major league games last season, spending the bulk of the year at Triple-A Indianapolis. It seems likely that he'll wind up with the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate (Buffalo) to begin the year, though Toronto is relatively thin at catcher so he could be summoned should there be an injury to Russell Martin, Josh Thole, or A.J. Jiminez.

  • Pirates' Tony Sanchez: Released by the Pirates

Sanchez was unconditionally released by the Pirates on Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Tribune's Rob Biertempfel reports.

He was designated for assignment last week, and will likely seek a minor league deal with an invite to spring training with another club. Sanchez doesn't offer much in terms of offense, so he can be largely ignored in most fantasy formats.

  • Pirates' Tony Sanchez: Designated for assignment

Sanchez was designated for assignment on Wednesday.

Sanchez was the fourth overall pick in the 2009 draft, but things just haven't worked out for him at the big league level. Francisco Cervelli and Chris Stewart were firmly ahead of him on the organizational depth chart, and the Pirates presumably prefer Elias Diaz to Sanchez as well. The career .259/.303/.378 hitter could catch on as a depth piece with another organization, but he will likely spend most of 2016 at Triple-A.
