Chatwood will head to Triple-A Indianapolis after he struggled to a 16.20 ERA and 2.80 WHIP with four strikeouts over five innings in five appearances this spring. The right-hander tossed 32 innings as a reliever in 2022 with the Giants and Blue Jays, producing a 5.62 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 38 punchouts. Chatwood will likely have to prove himself in Triple-A before he could get a shot in the majors this summer.

Chatwood will return to American baseball after spending the 2022 campaign in Japan with NPB's Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, producing a 2.59 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 24.1 innings before going down with a shoulder injury. The right-hander last pitched in the big leagues in 2020 with the Cubs, struggling to a 5.30 ERA over five starts.
