Blue Jays' Lucas Harrell: Hits minor-league DL
Harrell was placed on the minor-league disabled list Wednesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
It's unclear what forced Harrell onto the shelf, but the move is retroactive to Aug. 7, making him eligible to return this Monday if he's ready. While the 32-year-old struggled during his brief stint in the majors this season, he owns an impressive 2.08 ERA through 30.1 innings with Triple-A Buffalo. He'll continue to serve as organizational pitching depth once activated.

Blue Jays' Lucas Harrell: Outrighted to Triple-A
Harrell has cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
There was nothing in Harrell's 7.11 ERA nor 2.21 WHIP to entice a team to snag him off waivers. Harrell was sharp in four starts for Buffalo (2.11 ERA in 21.1 innings), so he may be called upon again should Toronto find themselves needing an innings eater down the stretch.

Blue Jays' Lucas Harrell: Designated for assignment
The Blue Jays designated Harrell for assignment Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Dominic Leone will assume Harrell's spot in the bullpen after the 32-year-old scuffled in his four relief appearances, giving up five runs on 10 hits and four walks in 6.1 innings. Harrell is expected to pass through waivers unclaimed, and if that's the case, he'll likely accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Buffalo and work as a swingman.

Blue Jays' Lucas Harrell: Joining major-league club
Harrell's contract was purchased from Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
The Blue Jays need bullpen reinforcements, so Harrell was summoned prior to the matinee game against the Red Sox. He logged a 2.11 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB in 21.1 innings at Triple-A working as a starter, but will likely serve as a long reliever in the big leagues.

Blue Jays' Lucas Harrell: Signs minor league contract with Blue Jays
Harrell agreed to a minor league deal with the Blue Jays on Monday that includes an invitation to spring training, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
The 31-year-old posted a 4.21 ERA across 47 innings with the Braves and Rangers last season, starting all nine games he appeared in. He has primarily featured as a starter in his six-year career, and Toronto could use starting pitching depth at Triple-A, but he could also see a move to the bullpen in an attempt to make the Blue Jays' roster.

Lucas Harrell: Becomes free agent Friday
Harrell declined his outright assignment and was granted free agency Friday.
Harrell had the choice to stick with the Rangers organization and act as organizational depth, but he'll instead look to land with another organization with the hope of landing some sort of major league job. That being said, it'll be tough for him to garner a spot on a big league roster given his significant struggles after being traded to the Rangers last season and posting a 5.60 ERA over four starts.

Rangers' Lucas Harrell: Clears waivers, decision looming
Harrell (groin) has cleared outright waivers and has the option to decline an assignment to Triple-A and become a free agent, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Stefan Stevenson reports.
He was on the 60-day DL at the end of the season with a right groin strain, but the injury is not expected to linger long into the offseason. Harrell was dreadful after being traded from Atlanta to Texas, posting a 5.60 ERA and 15:13 K:BB in 17.2 innings. Even his success with the Braves seemed dubious, as his 5.18 xFIP and 21:12 K:BB in 29.1 innings did not signify continued success. He should serve as a organizational depth piece, whether he accepts his assignment to Triple-A or goes elsewhere.

Rangers' Lucas Harrell: Placed on DL with groin strain
Harrell (right groin strain) was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday.
He left Tuesday's game with a groin strain, and will unsurprisingly head to the DL. Harrell had been predictably awful since coming over from Atlanta earlier this season, notching a 5.60 ERA and 15:13 K:BB in 17.2 innings with the Rangers. He was simply a placeholder while the likes of Derek Holland and Colby Lewis got healthy, so Harrell may not have a spot in the rotation waiting for him when he comes off the DL. Nick Martinez was recalled from Triple-A as a corresponding move to serve as a long reliever and spot starter.

Rangers' Lucas Harrell: Suffers groin strain
Harrell left Tuesday's game with a right groin strain, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
The severity of the strain is uncertain but the Rangers have a ready alternative for this weekend in Derek Holland (shoulder), who threw 75 pitches in a rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Harrell was on thin ice to begin with and may have been replaced in the rotation regardless, having walked four in his two innings Tuesday on the heels of a six-run blowup last week.

Rangers' Lucas Harrell: Struggles in no-decision against Rockies
Harrell gave up six runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Thursday.
It was a slugfest in Arlington as the two teams combined to score 21 runs, with the two starters (Harrell and Chad Bettis) giving up 11 of them. Harrell did fan a season-high eight batters -- he hadn't struck out more than five in any of his previous six starts -- and also cut back on the walks, but he's having trouble putting it all together and the Rangers may be forced to re-evaluate Harrell's standing in the rotation if he can't turn it around in the near future.

Rangers' Lucas Harrell: Will make next scheduled start
Rangers manager Jeff Banister confirmed that Harrell would make his next scheduled turn in the rotation Thursday against the Rockies, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Harrell was pulled with two outs in the fourth inning during Saturday's start against the Astros after yielding five walks and five hits, but he'll be given another shot to keep his spot on the starting staff after delivering quality starts in his preceding two turns. Free passes continue to be a major stumbling block for the right-hander, who has ceded three or more walks in each of his last five starts.

Rangers' Lucas Harrell: Lasts just 3.2 innings in no-decision versus Rangers
Harrell allowed just one run on five hits but lasted just 3.2 innings in a no-decision against the Astros on Saturday. He also struck out five and walked five.
The five walks was a season-high and added up, causing Harrell to throw 92 pitches to retire just 11 batters. In two starts with Texas, Harrell has allowed four runs in 9.2 innings (3.72 ERA), but he also has eight walks and just seven strikeouts. Overall, Harrell is 3-2 with a 3.46 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 28 strikeouts and 20 walks in 39 innings over seven starts this season.
