Poor Twins season not likely to cost interim GM Terry Ryan his job

Twins owner Jim Pohlad doesn't expect to make changes at general manager or manager this offseason.

Although his team is stuck in last place in the American League, Minnesota Twins owner Jim Pohlad indicated in an interview with ESPN 1500 that interim general manager Terry Ryan's job is safe.

In fact, Pohlad said that he's ready to remove the "interim" tag from Ryan's position as soon as the general manager is ready to do so.

Pohlad also revealed that he "can't foresee" manager Ron Gardenhire losing his job.

The Twins, who are on pace to finish last in the American League Central for the second consecutive year after winning the division in 2010, made a couple key free agent acquisitions last offseason when they signed Josh Willingham (.258/.365/.535 in 512 plate appearances) and Ryan Doumit (.285/.336/.466 in 421 plate appearances). With Doumit inking a midseason extension, both players are locked up through 2014.

A key question the Twins will have to answer this offseason is what to do at first base, with Justin Morneau's contract up at the end of next season and prospect Chris Parmelee hitting .343/.458/.657 in 264 Triple-A plate appearances this year.
