Minor moves: Twins, Orioles make call-ups

Baltimore calls up INF Joe Mahoney and Minnesota recalls SP Sam Deduno.

The Twins and Orioles have each made a promotion from the minor leagues:

• With Chris Tillman headed back to the minors to keep up his regular work over the All-Star break, the Orioles have recalled first baseman Joe Mahoney from Triple-A Norfolk, the team announced over Twitter. Mahoney is hitting .256/.312/.355 in 85 games for Norfolk.
• Minnesota has called up Sam Deduno from Triple-A Rochester to start Saturday against the Rangers. Deduno, 28, will be making his first major league start. He had a 2.14 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 42 innings in Triple-A. Chris Parmelee will head back to Rochester.
