  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Cleared for Saturday

Sochan (back) will play against the Nuggets on Saturday, independent NBA writer Matthew Tynan reports. After missing Friday's game versus the Nuggets, Sochan had his questionable tag removed and will be ready to roll for the rematch. With Sochan back in action, Keldon Johnson and Julian Champagnie likely won't have as much upside.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Iffy for Saturday

Sochan (back) has been listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Nuggets. Sochan missed Friday's game against the Nuggets with a back issue and could now miss the second game of a back-to-back in San Antonio against Denver. If Sochan misses a second straight game, Keldon Johnson and Julian Champagnie could get more time on the floor.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Ruled out for Friday vs. Nuggets

Sochan (back) has been ruled out for Friday's game against Denver, Jeff Garcia of KENS 5 San Antonio reports. Sochan didn't play in the second half of Tuesday's 122-86 win over the Clippers due to bilateral lower back tightness, and he finished that contest with four points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal over 15 minutes. Sochan's next opportunity to play will be on the second leg of a back-to-back Saturday in a rematch against the Nuggets. Julian Champagnie and Keldon Johnson should see increased playing time Friday due to Sochan's absence.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Exits with back injury

Sochan has been ruled out for the remainder of Tuesday's game against the Clippers due to a low back injury, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports. He had four points (2-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt), five rebounds, two assists and one steal over 15 minutes prior to departing. Sochan will miss the final two quarters of play after feeling the back injury pop up at some point prior to halftime. The severity of the injury is unknown at this time. Keldon Johnson and Julian Champagnie should be more involved in the frontcourt the rest of the way Tuesday.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Flirts with double-double in loss

Sochan produced 21 points (8-10 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine rebounds and two assists over 33 minutes during Wednesday's 117-114 loss to the Knicks. Sochan continues to quietly put together a fantastic season, falling just one rebound short of another double-double. While his teammate, Victor Wembanyama, typically gets all the attention, Sochan's play is a big reason for the Spurs' success this season. Across 17 games, he is averaging 15.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals in 29.3 minutes per game.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Hits for 15 as starter Friday

Sochan ended Friday's 118-116 win over Portland with 15 points (6-9 FG, 3-4 FT), five rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals across 32 minutes. The third-year forward made his second start in five games since returning from a thumb fracture that cost him most of November, but Sochan's production has been steady regardless of his role. Since rejoining the lineup Dec. 3, he's averaging 13.2 points, 8.2 boards, 2.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks while shooting 51.0 percent from the floor.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Starting vs. Portland

Sochan is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Trail Blazers. The Spurs will be without Stephon Castle (shoulder) for this game, so interim head coach Mitch Johnson has changed things up. Sochan will slot in at power forward alongside Victor Wembanyama in the frontcourt, while Julian Champagnie and Harrison Barnes will play on the wings. Sochan is averaging 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game as a starter this season (eight appearances).

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Logs just 21 minutes in loss

Sochan amassed 14 points (5-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and two assists over 21 minutes during Friday's 140-113 loss to the Kings. Sochan moved to the bench Friday, playing just 21 minutes. This was an interesting decision given he started the previous night. However, this game was the second of a back-to-back set, and he just returned from an extended injury absence. This may have been a case of the coaching staff opting to lighten his workload rather than giving him the night off altogether.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Not starting Friday

Sochan is not in the Spurs' starting lineup for Friday's game against the Kings. Sochan started against the Bulls on Thursday and finished with 16 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and one steal over 36 minutes. However, he will revert to a reserve role for Friday's game as Zach Collins get the start at center due to Victor Wembanyama (back) being sidelined.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Back in starting five Thursday

Sochan will enter the starting lineup in Thursday's game against the Bulls, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. The 21-year-old forward will reprise his role in the starting five in his second consecutive outing following a 13-game absence while recovering from thumb surgery. During Sochan's return to game action in Tuesday's loss to the Suns, he posted 14 points (5-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-8 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 22 minutes. It wouldn't come as a surprise if the third-year pro remains under a minutes restriction as he works his way back to playing form.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Progressing toward return

Sochan was able to participate in 5-on-5 work during Friday's practice following surgery on a fracture in the proximal phalanx of his left thumb in early November, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. Sochan's return to 5-on-5 work suggests he is nearing a return to game action. While the Spurs have yet to provide a clear timetable for his comeback, an update is expected sooner rather than later. The 21-year-old appeared in seven regular-season outings before his long-term absence streak, during which he averaged 15.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals while shooting 51.2 percent from the field across 29.3 minutes per game.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Won't return vs. Clippers on Monday

Sochan (thumb) will not return during Monday's game against the Clippers, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Sochan totaled four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 12 minutes before leaving due to a thumb injury. With the 21-year-old forward out, Zach Collins and Keldon Johnson are candidates for an increased role the rest of the way.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Strong start continues

Sochan supplied 22 points (9-19 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-5 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and one block over 34 minutes during Monday's 106-101 loss to Houston. Sochan scored at least 17 points for the third straight game to open the season, continuing his impressive start. Now back in his preferred position, power forward, Sochan has been easily the most consistent player on the Spurs' roster. He was typically available late in drafts, and at this point, it appears he could be a great risk vs. reward option.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Not injured in car crash

Sochan was not injured after crashing his car into a guardrail in San Antonio on Aug. 24, James Herbert of CBS Sports reports. Sochan told police he "lost control of his vehicle" and hit a guardrail on the ramp connecting two highways. His car was the only one involved in the crash, and while there was extensive damage to his Porsche, Sochan refused EMS services and walked away unharmed. After a promising rookie campaign, Sochan was shifted to point guard last year, but that experiment failed miserably. After moving back to forward, Sochan found his footing again and is expected to play a key role in the Spurs' frontcourt next to Victor Wembanyama in 2024-25.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Plays for Polish national team

Sochan (ankle) averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.5 steals, 1.0 three-pointers and 1.0 blocks in 29.0 minutes per game over his two appearances for the Polish national team this month in Olympic qualifying tournament games. Sochan saw extended playing time in losses to The Bahamas and Finland in group play. Though Poland has now been eliminated from qualifying for a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, the 21-year-old Sochan looks like he'll head into training camp at full health for the Spurs after missing the club's final eight games of the 2023-24 season due to a left ankle impingement.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Could be done for season

Sochan could miss the rest of the season due to the left ankle impingement he suffered in Friday's 130-126 loss to the Knicks, Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports. "Whatever the doctors tell me when they all look at the pictures is when I will know something," Popovich said of Sochan's timeline for a return. "I'm not going to guess." Sochan had played in each of the Spurs' first 74 games of the season before sitting out Sunday's 117-113 loss to the Warriors. With his goal of playing in all 82 games now dashed, Sochan may be inclined to proceed cautiously with his recovery from the ankle injury over the final two weeks of the season, especially since he plans to play for the Polish national team at the 2024 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in early July. For their part, the Spurs seem inclined to take a game-by-game approach with Sochan's status, but the second-year forward should at least be viewed as doubtful to play in San Antonio's next contest Tuesday in Denver.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Won't face Golden State

Sochan (ankle) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Warriors, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports. Sochan exited Friday's win over the Knicks due to left ankle impingement, and since the Spurs don't have anything to play for in the final two weeks of the regular season, the coaching staff won't put him at risk. His next chance to play will come against the Nuggets on Tuesday.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Pounds glass, hits dagger

Sochan chipped in 26 points (10-19 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 18 rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 36 minutes during Monday's 104-102 win over the Suns. Sochan's lone three-point make of the night was clutch, ultimately representing the final bucket of the game and earning San Antonio a victory. Sochan capitalized on Jusuf Nurkic (ankle) exiting early, racking up 16 defensive rebounds as Phoenix struggled to control the glass. Sochan's offensive production came from pushing in transition and knocking down his shallow mid-range jumpers and floaters, while the 77.5 percent free-throw shooter was perfect at the line Monday.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Flirts with triple-double

Sochan registered nine points (4-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt), seven rebounds, seven assists, two blocks and one steal in 28 minutes during Monday's 112-102 loss to the Warriors. Sochan continues to grow as a playmaker, as Monday marked his fifth career game with at least seven assists. He's fared well overall in five March contests, averaging 13.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.8 three-pointers in 31.2 minutes.

  • Spurs' Jeremy Sochan: Double-doubles in loss

Sochan provided 15 points (7-16 FG, 1-6 3Pt), 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals in 34 minutes during Friday's 123-118 loss to the Lakers. Sochan recorded his fourth double-double of the season during Friday's loss to the Lakers. However, Sochan's shooting slump continued, as he is shooting 14.3 percent on 3.1 three-point attempts per contest across nine games in February. The 20-year-old forward is averaging 10.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 30.1 minutes over that span.
