Rojas went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base against the Nationals in Tuesday's 4-1 victory. Rojas got the start at shortstop while Mookie Betts shifted to second base with southpaw Patrick Corbin starting for Washington. That has been the usual lineup arrangement versus lefties in what has developed into a platoon situation, with Gavin Lux starting at second and Betts playing shortstop versus right-handed starters. Rojas has performed well when given the opportunity, slashing .281/.324/.500 with two homers, five RBI, four runs and a stolen base over 34 plate appearances. Meanwhile, Lux has struggled mightily with a .148/.224/.164 slash line, though the Dodgers seem set on sticking with him for the time being.... See More ... See Less

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Belts second long ball
Rojas went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional RBI against San Francisco in a 5-4 win Wednesday. Rojas put the Dodgers on the board with a run-scoring groundout in the second inning, then gave the team a four-run lead with a solo shot in the fourth. The long ball was his second through nine plate appearances this season -- a surprising development given that he hasn't posted double-digit homers in any campaign since going deep a career-high 11 times in 2018. With that in mind, it's not logical to expect Rojas to continue to flash power, especially since he typically starts only when Los Angeles faces a lefty starter.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Swats homer Friday
Rojas went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-3 win against the Cardinals. With Los Angeles going up against lefty Zack Thompson, Rojas logged his first start of the campaign while Gavin Lux got the night off. Rojas made the most of the opportunity, gathering two hits, including a solo homer to left field in the seventh inning. The veteran is slated to get regular starts at shortstop when Los Angeles goes up against lefty starters, but it's not expected to be a straight platoon with Lux, per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times.... Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Will start occasionally vs. lefties
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Rojas will get some starts at shortstop against left-handed pitchers, but he won't be part of a strict platoon, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Rojas got the bulk of playing time at shortstop last year after Gavin Lux tore his ACL in spring training and was lost for the season, and he finished the campaign with a .236/.290/.322 slash line along with five homers, 31 RBI, 49 runs and eight steals. With Lux back in the fold for 2024, Rojas is slated to work in a reserve role, with Lux starting at second base and Mookie Betts taking over at shortstop. When the Dodgers go up against southpaws, Betts will sometimes slide over to second while Rojas gets an opportunity at shortstop, but Roberts' comments make it clear that this won't be more than an occasional lineup change.... Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Back in action Tuesday
Rojas (lower leg) is starting at third base and batting eighth for the Dodgers in his return to action Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Rojas had to be scratched from Sunday's lineup with some lower leg soreness but is back out there a couple days later. The veteran infielder is prepping for a utility infielder role in 2024.... Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Scratched with leg soreness
Rojas was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks due to lower leg soreness, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Even though Rojas was scratched, Ardaya notes that the veteran infielder was still taking groundballs in pregame warmups, so the leg injury likely isn't a major concern. Rojas made 109 starts for Los Angeles during the 2023 season, but he'll likely be in line for more of a reduced role in 2024 with Mookie Betts and Gavin Lux slated to serve as the Dodgers' primary starters in the middle infield.... Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Returns to lineup
Rojas is starting at shortstop and batting ninth Saturday against Arizona in Game 1 of the NLDS, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports. Rojas missed the Dodgers' final two regular-season games after getting hit in the hand by a pitch. He was given extra time to recover thanks to the team's first-round bye, and he'll return in time for the start of Los Angeles' playoff run. The 34-year-old is slashing .300/.338/.429 with two homers and seven RBI in 24 contests since Sept. 1.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Making progress with hand/wrist
Rojas (hand/wrist) is playing in an intrasquad game Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. Rojas missed the final two games of the regular season after taking a pitch off his left hand/wrist last Friday in San Francisco, but the Dodgers are off until Game 1 of the NLDS this Saturday and the veteran shortstop should be ready to rock. Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernandez filled in at short in his absence.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: On bench again Sunday
Rojas (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Giants, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Rojas will sit for the second straight game to close out the regular season after being hit by a pitch on the left hand Friday. The 34-year-old will have nearly a week to rest up before Game 1 of the NLDS next weekend. Enrique Hernandez is starting at shortstop Sunday in San Francisco.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Not starting Saturday
Rojas (hand) will not start Saturday's game against San Francisco. Rojas left Friday's game after getting hit in the hand by a pitch. He escaped with nothing worse than a bruise but has no reason to risk anything Saturday with the Dodgers locked into the second seed in the National League. Chris Taylor will get the start at shortstop in his absence. Skipper Dave Roberts noted before Saturday's game that the swelling in Rojas' hand has gone down, and the team has put a CT scan on hold for now, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register.... Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Diagnosed with hand contusion
Rojas was diagnosed with a left hand contusion following his exit from Friday's game against the Dodgers, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. It sounds like a fracture has been ruled out after Rojas got plunked by a 94.7 mph fastball in the top of the seventh inning. Los Angeles might be careful nonetheless with the veteran shortstop over the final two games of the regular season, as the team looks ahead to the playoffs. Amed Rosario took over at short Friday, and Chris Taylor and Enrique Hernandez would also be options at the position.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Exits after HBP to hand
Rojas was removed from Friday's game in San Francisco after taking a pitch off his left hand, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. Sean Hjelle struck him with a 94.7 mph fastball in the top of the seventh inning, following some jawing between the NL West rivals in the bottom of the sixth. Rojas finished the night 0-for-2 with the HBP. Amed Rosario took over at shortstop for Los Angeles in the bottom of the seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: On bench Thursday
Rojas is out of the lineup Thursday versus the Rockies. Chris Taylor will play shortstop and bat sixth in the Dodgers' series finale at Coors Field. Rojas went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 8-2 victory over Colorado, but he carries a rough .238/.289/.324 season slash line in 420 total plate appearances.... See More ... Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Sitting out nightcap
Rojas is not in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Rockies. Amed Rosario will start at shortstop and bat ninth as Kolten Wong covers second base and hits eighth. Rojas finished 0-for-4 in the early tilt at Coors Field and is batting just .232 with a .604 OPS across 416 total plate appearances this season for Los Angeles.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Sitting Thursday
Rojas isn't in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday against the Giants, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports. Rojas will get a breather Thursday after failing to record a hit in each of his last two games. Enrique Hernandez will fill in at shortstop and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Smacks homer Monday
Rojas went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 8-3 win over the Tigers. This was Rojas' second homer in his last three games, an unusual bit of power from the light-hitting shortstop. He's been steady at the plate in September, going 16-for-45 (.356) with four extra-base hits and six RBI over 14 contests. The 34-year-old is at a .239/.294/.331 slash line with five homers, 30 RBI, 47 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 115 games this season while routinely hitting at or near the bottom of the order.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Out of Sunday's lineup
Rojas is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Mariners. Rojas has an .854 OPS through 13 games in September and will take a seat Sunday after the Dodgers secured the NL West crown on Saturday. Amed Rosario will man shortstop and bat seventh in the series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Hits go-ahead homer
Rojas went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-3 win over the Mariners. Rojas snapped a 20-game homer drought with his go-ahead blast in the fifth inning. The infielder was at least productive during the power outage, going 19-for-64 (.297) in that span, though he picked up just four RBI. He's seen steady playing time at shortstop this year, posting a .237/.293/.322 slash line with four homers, 29 RBI, 45 runs scored and eight stolen bases through 113 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Takes seat Tuesday
Rojas is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Padres. Enrique Hernandez will start at shortstop and bat ninth versus the Padres and right-hander Michael Wacha. Rojas has shown more life lately, but he's slashing just .233/.291/.311 across 384 total plate appearances this season with the Dodgers.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Tallies four hits Sunday
Rojas went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Nationals. Rojas now has seven hits over his last four games and has started five of the last games at shortstop despite the Dodgers making trading for Amed Rosario before the deadline. Rojas hadn't had more than two hits in a game all year but has seemed to turn a corner in September, and is slashing .367/.387/.467 over nine games this month.... See More ... See Less
