The Philadelphia Union have a golden opportunity to extend their unbeaten streak to five games when they host Inter Miami CF on Saturday in a 2024 Major League Soccer showdown. Philadelphia (4-8-4) ended their six-game winless stretch with a 3-0 road triumph over the New England Revolution on May 18 and followed that result with draws against Charlotte FC, Toronto FC and CF Montreal. The Union now faces league-leading Inter Miami (10-5-3), who are winless in their last two contests and will be without Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi and Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who have joined their respective national teams for Copa America. Messi and Suarez are tied for third in MLS with 12 goals apiece.

Kickoff at Subaru Park in Chester, Penn. is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The Union are -125 favorites (risk $125 to win $100) in the latest Philadelphia vs. Inter Miami odds via SportsLine consensus, while the Herons are +300 underdogs. A 90-minute draw is also priced at +300 and the over/under for total goals scored is 3.5. Before locking in any Inter Miami vs. Philadelphia picks, you need to see what proven SportsLine soccer insider Jon "Buckets" Eimer has to say.

Why you should back Philadelphia

The Union also will be missing their top two scorers as Hungarian midfielder Daniel Gazdag (team-leading 10 goals) also will be competing in Copa America and forward Julian Carranza (six) is dealing with an ankle injury while also awaiting a transfer to Feyenoord of the Netherlands' Eredivisie. But their supporting cast should be eager for the opportunity to fill the void and face an Inter Miami squad void of two amazing offensive talents. One of the players form which Philadelphia will be looking for production is Danish forward Mikael Uhre, who is the club's third-leading scorer with five goals.

Over the last six league matches, the only player other than Gazdag and Carranza to convert for the Union has been the 29-year-old Uhre, who scored in a 3-2 loss to Orlando City SC on May 11 and also tallied in a 2-2 draw with Montreal in the club's last league match. Alejandro Bedoya and Jack McGlynn are the only other members of the Union with more than one goal, as both midfielders have two. The 37-year-old Bedoya netted the lone tally for Philadelphia in a 4-1 loss to Inter Miami in their most recent meeting in the 2023 Leagues Cup semifinals last August. See which team to pick here.

Why you should back Inter Miami

Without Messi and Suarez, who are tied for third in MLS with 12 goals apiece, the Herons also will be expecting others to step up offensively. One player who will be counted on is forward Leonardo Campana, who is third on the club with four goals. The 23-year-old Ecuadorian, who netted 11 tallies in his first season with Inter Miami in 2022 and finished with nine last year, scored the game-winner in back-to-back matches against D.C. United and Vancouver last month.

Robert Taylor recorded a career-high four goals last season, with half of them coming against the Union. The 29-year-old Finnish midfielder converted in the Herons' 2-0 victory at home last March and netted Inter Miami's lone tally in a 4-1 loss at Philadelphia 3 ½ months later. Spanish defender Jordi Alba, who registered a goal and two assists in the Herons' most recent MLS match, scored in the club's Leagues Cup semifinal win against the Union last year. See which team to pick here.
