Perets was reassigned to AHL Chicago on Monday.
Perets made a relief appearance against Florida on Saturday, surrendering one goal on seven shots in a 6-0 loss. Due to injuries to Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion) and Frederik Andersen (knee), Perets occupied the backup role behind Spencer Martin. However, Kochetkov returned to practice Monday and could be ready to play in Tuesday's home game versus Seattle.

Perets stopped six of seven shots in relief in the third period of a 6-0 loss to Florida on Saturday.
Perets was 1-2-0 with a 3.67 GAA and .825 save percentage with the AHL Chicago Wolves before his recent call-up to the Canes. The young netminder was thrown to the big cats Saturday -- the Panthers had put up five on Spencer Martin in the first two periods, and his Canes teammates didn't really show up at all during the game. Perets isn't a viable fantasy option right now, and his NHL future is likely limited to a backup role ... if he ever makes it.

The Hurricanes are missing Frederik Andersen (lower body), who hasn't played since Oct. 26, and Pyotr Kochetkov (undisclosed), who exited Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Utah and is questionable for Saturday's game against Ottawa. If Kochetkov joins Andersen on the shelf, then Spencer Martin will likely start Saturday while Perets will serve as the backup netminder.

Perets will get the nod after Spencer Martin was placed on waivers Wednesday. Ultimately, both Martin and Perets are likely to begin 2024-25 with AHL Chicago. Perets saw his first NHL action Monday, as he came on in relief of Antti Raanta in the third period of a 5-2 loss to LA. Perets stopped the only shot he faced. Perets became redundant when the Hurricanes claimed Spencer Martin off waivers from Columbus on Friday.

Hurricanes' Yaniv Perets: Makes NHL debut
Perets faced (and saved) only one shot on net in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Kings.
Despite the Hurricanes 5-2 loss to the Kings on Monday, it was a night to remember for Perets. It was the first NHL action of his career and he was perfect on the night, saving the only shot on net he faced in relief of Antti Raanta. Perets made a beautiful odd-man rush save on Pierre-Luc Dubois 10:45 into the third period. However, the Kings eventually scored on an empty net to put the game away. Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion) is out indefinitely, so Perets could see additional opportunities to play in the coming weeks.

Perets is currently sporting a 6-8-1 record and .906 save percentage in 15 games for the Admirals. Unfortunately for the Hurricanes, the 23-year-old backstop is the only available option signed to an NHL contract as the organization currently doesn't have an AHL affiliate. Fortunately for the team, there are no back-to-backs on the short-term schedule, so Perets figures to serve primarily as the emergency option behind Antti Raanta.
