Morrissey rested for the Jets' regular-season finale, but he was as strong as ever before that with two goals and nine helpers over his last eight outings. The momentum carried over into the playoffs as he earned his third straight multi-point effort. Morrissey is likely to see massive minutes on the top pairing and first power-play unit, and his offense will make him a solid choice for fantasy playoff competitions.

  • Jets' Josh Morrissey: Won't play Thursday

    Morrissey will sit out the season finale versus Vancouver on Thursday, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports. Morrissey joins a number of Jets players that will skip the season finale in order to rest up for the postseason. The blueliner has been red hot of late with two goals and nine helpers in his last eight contests, including five points with the man advantage. Morrissey has two goals and nine helpers over his last eight contests, four of which have been multi-point efforts. The star defenseman is up to 10 goals, 59 helpers, 196 shots on net, 90 hits, 103 blocked shots and a plus-34 rating through 81 outings overall. If he plays and earns a point Thursday versus the Canucks, he will secure his second straight 70-point campaign.

Both his power-play points came in the first period as the Jets jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Morrissey has three multi-point performances in the last six games, and Saturday's tally was his 10th of the season, marking the third straight campaign in which he's reached double digits. The loss was not from a lack of effort from Morrissey, as he was on the ice for almost half the game, playing 34 shifts while notching 27:21 TOI. This was good news for his managers, as he was a question mark heading into the contest due to a lower-body injury suffered during the previous game. He got on the scoresheet with only 12 seconds remaining in the third period to cut Winnipeg's deficit to 4-2. The 28-year old defenseman added two shots, one hit, a minus-2 rating and two blocked shots. The Jets are off for the All-Star break and will return on Feb. 6 when they visit the Penguins.
