Thomas was waived Thursday by the Chiefs.
Thomas signed with the Chiefs a week and a half ago, but he has now been waived by the team for the second time since the start of the season. He was being deployed as a backup nose tackle with limited usage in Kansas City.

Chiefs' Cam Thomas: Joins Chiefs
Thomas was signed by the Chiefs on Monday, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
Thomas spent the preseason with the Chiefs before losing his roster spot to Roy Miller. The 30-year-old now rejoins Kansas City to serve as backup nose tackle, replacing Miller on the 53-man roster in the process.

Thomas was in line to serve as the backup nose tackle, but the team signed Roy Miller early in August and he wound up with the job. Given the 30-year-old's experience, there's a chance he gets picked up by another squad.

Chiefs' Cam Thomas: Signs contract with Chiefs
Thomas signed a contract with the Chiefs on Friday, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.
A 2010 fifth-round pick by the Chargers, Thomas fits the mold of a true, two-gap nose tackle. He'll compete with Jarvis Jenkins and Montori Hughes for the backup job to starting defensive tackle Bennie Logan.
