Chargers' Cam Hart: Underwent shoulder surgery
Hart required offseason shoulder surgery and missed most of OTAs and minicamp, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Hart was injured in the Chargers' wild-card playoff loss to the Texans in January and needed surgery as a result. Selected in the fifth round out of Notre Dame in the 2024 Draft, Hart made six regular-season starts as a rookie and played 458 defensive snaps across 14 appearances. He finished the regular season with 37 tackles (28 solo), including 0.5 sacks, and seven pass breakups. Over the offseason, the Chargers signed veteran cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste in free agency and also used a seventh-round pick on Trikweze Bridges. Competition for playing time at the position will be fierce during the preseason. It's unclear if Hart will be ready for the start of training camp next week.

Chargers' Cam Hart: On the field for OTAs
Hart (shoulder) has been participating in the Chargers' offseason team activities.
The cornerback suffered a shoulder injury during Los Angeles' 32-12 wild-card loss to the Texans in January, and he had to exit the game and go to the locker room. Now that he's back, he should be in line for a bigger role in 2025. The 2024 fifth-round pick is projected as a starter this year after only starting seven games, regular season and playoffs, as a rookie.

Chargers' Cam Hart: Six starts in rookie season
Hart (shoulder) finished the 2024 regular season with 37 tackles (28 solo), including 0.5 sacks, seven pass defenses and one forced fumble across 14 games.
Hart was selected by the Chargers in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 140th overall, three spots after teammate Tarheeb Still. Hart was used mostly on special teams over the first four games of the regular season, but he did start in the six games following the Chargers' Week 5 bye and accumulated 28 tackles (19 solo), including 0.5 sacks, four pass defenses and one forced fumble over that span. Hart and Still could be the Chargers' starting outside cornerbacks for the 2025 campaign if Kristian Fulton opts to take his talents elsewhere in free agency.

Chargers' Cam Hart: Exits wild-card game due to injury
Hart (shoulder) is questionable to return to Saturday's wild-card game against the Texans.
Hart suffered the injury in the third quarter of Saturday's game and went straight to the locker room, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Deane Leonard and Eli Apple are set to play more snaps at outside corner for as long as Hart is sidelined.

Hart (concussion) does not carry an injury designation heading into Saturday's game against the Patriots after logging a full practice Thursday.
Hart was unable to play in the Chargers' Week 16 win over the Broncos due to a concussion he suffered against the Buccaneers in Week 15. He was able to log consecutive full practices to end the week, and he's done enough to clear the league's five-step concussion protocols ahead of Saturday's game. The rookie fifth-round pick has registered 34 tackles (25 solo), including 0.5 sacks, six pass defenses and one forced fumble across 12 regular-season games.

Chargers' Cam Hart: Won't play Thursday vs. Denver
Hart (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Broncos.
Hart was diagnosed with a concussion during the Chargers' 40-17 loss to the Buccaneers this past Sunday, which prevented him from participating in practice all week. He'll need to clear the league's five-step concussion protocols in order to play in Week 17 against the Patriots on Saturday, Dec. 28. Tarheeb Still is the top candidate to start at outside corner Thursday opposite Kristian Fulton due to Hart's injury.

Hart (concussion) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
Hart suffered a concussion during Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers, so it's not surprising he wouldn't be able to practice the next day. However, with the Chargers on a short week and hosting the Broncos on Thursday, the team only held a walkthrough and his participation level was only an estimate. Either way, Hart will likely have a tough time clearing the league's five-step concussion protocols in time to suit up for Week 16.

Chargers' Cam Hart: Ruled out due to concussion
Hart suffered a concussion in Sunday's Week 15 game against Tampa Bay and has been ruled out from returning, Tyler Dragon of USA Today reports.
Hart was injured late in the second quarter while defending a deep pass to Mike Evans. The rookie cornerback was subsequently ruled out just before halftime, having recorded one tackle and one defensed pass prior to his exit. Ja'Sir Taylor has entered the contest in Hart's place. The Chargers next play Thursday versus Denver, and Hart will need to clear the NFL's concussion protocol by then in order to suit up.
