49ers' Javon Kinlaw: Fifth-year option declined
The 49ers opted not to pick up the fifth-year option on Kinlaw's rookie contract Friday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Kinlaw was selected by the 49ers with the 14th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he has struggled to stay healthy, playing in just 24 games in his first three seasons. General manager John Lynch told reporters on Friday that Kinlaw was having "an outstanding offseason," and San Francisco views him as a key rotational player for the defense. Kinlaw will be behind defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, who signed a four-year, $84 million contract with the 49ers in March.

49ers' Javon Kinlaw: Clears final injury report
Kinlaw (knee) doesn't have a designation for Saturday's wild-card matchup versus Seattle.
Kinlaw has been largely limited since returning from his 11-game hiatus due to a knee injury, though he did suit up for the final three games of the regular season. The 2020 first-round pick then remained limited during practice Tuesday and Wednesday before working his way back to full participation Thursday. Kinlaw should continue to see prominent usage alongside fellow defensive tackles Kevin Givens, T.Y. McGill and Arik Armstead (foot/ankle), the latter of whom is also set to play Saturday.

49ers' Javon Kinlaw: Still dealing with injury
Kinlaw (knee) was listed as a limited participant on the 49ers' injury report Tuesday.
Kinlaw was activated from injured reserve Dec. 23 and played in each of the final three games of the regular season, though he's still routinely appeared on the injury report with this lingering knee injury. The 25-year-old did play 42 percent of San Francisco's defensive snaps Week 18, marking his most significant playing time since returning from IR. With fellow defensive tackle Arik Armstead (foot/ankle) also dealing with persistent injuries, it will be worth monitoring the status of these two heading into Saturday's wild-card matchup versus Seattle.

49ers' Javon Kinlaw: Ready to go Sunday
Kinlaw (knee) is active Sunday against the Cardinals, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Kinlaw was unable to practice early in the week, but he did finish with a limited practice Friday. His ability to play should be good news for the 49ers' defensive front.

49ers' Javon Kinlaw: Questionable versus Arizona
Kinlaw (knee) is considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
Kinlaw was activated from injured reserve Dec. 23 and has played 35 defensive snaps across the last two games. The 2020 first-round pick then began Week 18 with back-to-back DNPs, though he was able to log one limited practice during Friday's sessions. Should Kinlaw ultimately sit out, San Francisco would be without its top three defensive tackles for Sunday's regular-season finale, as Kevin Givens (knee) has already been ruled out while Arik Armstead (foot/ankle) is also considered questionable to play.

49ers' Javon Kinlaw: Good to go Week 17
Kinlaw (knee) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game versus the Raiders, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Kinlaw went on IR with a knee injury sustained during the Week 3 win over Denver, and he missed every game before returning to the active roster ahead of last Sunday's win versus the Commanders. The 2020 first-round pick ended up logging one tackle over 14 defensive snaps against Washington and opened Week 17 prep as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice. Kinlaw then ramped up his participation with a limited session Thursday, so it's possible he could again see limited defensive snaps during the second-to-last game of the regular season.

49ers' Javon Kinlaw: Activated from injured reserve
The 49ers activated Kinlaw (knee) from injured reserve Friday.
Kinlaw was designated to return from injured reserve Tuesday and has since been added to the active roster, putting him in line to make his first appearance since suffering an elbow injury during Week 3. Given his prolonged absence, Kinlaw figures to be limited during his presumed return to action against the Commanders on Saturday.

49ers' Javon Kinlaw: Set to practice this week
The 49ers designated Kinlaw (knee) to return from injured reserve Tuesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Although Kinlaw is now free to return to practice, he'll ultimately sit out of Tuesday's session and instead debut Wednesday, per Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News. The former first-round draft pick hasn't played since he suffered a knee injury back Week 3 against Denver, but Tuesday now marks day one of the 21-day window for San Francisco to add him back to their active roster. Kinlaw could suit up and receive an expanded role as soon as Saturday versus Washington given fellow defensive tackles Kevin Givens (knee), Kalia Davis (undisclosed), Hassan Ridgeway (pectoral) and Maurice Hurst (biceps) are all nursing injuries of their own.
