Vikings' Kenny Willekes: Re-signs with Minnesota
Willekes (undisclosed) re-signed with Minnesota on Wednesday.
Willekes spent the entire 2022 campaign on IR due to an undisclosed injury, but he appears to be healthy after agreeing to re-sign with Minnesota. The 2020 seventh-round pick has appeared in only six NFL contests -- all coming in 2021 -- and totaled 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one pass defense across 194 defensive snaps during those matchups.

Willekes cleared waivers and reverted to the Vikings' injured reserve list Friday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
The 2020 seventh-rounder from Michigan State is not necessarily a highly coveted asset, but now that he's on IR his season may be over before it even begins due to an undisclosed injury, barring him getting waived with an injury settlement at some point.

Kenny Willekes: Waived with injury designation
Willekes was waived with an undisclosed injury by the Vikings on Thursday, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Willekes was initially waived by the Vikings in August and spent most of last season on the team's practice squad before signing a new contract with the team in January. The 2020 seventh-round pick did not appear in a game during his rookie season in Minnesota, but he recorded 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one pass defended over six games last season.

Willekes broke out with seven tackles (four solo) and a half-sack versus Baltimore in Week 9, but it looks like he will be forced to miss Sunday's game against the Chargers. Until he fully clears the league's protocols for COVID-19, Willekes will not be eligible to return to team facilities.
