  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Gains 31 yards on TNF

Jennings caught two of three targets for 31 yards in Thursday's 30-12 win over the Giants.

It was Ray-Ray McCloud who started in place of Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) on Thursday, which kept Jennings in the No. 3 role. The former was not targeted on offense, while Jennings saw his usual allotment of targets and playing time (31 offensive snaps). It wound up being seventh-round rookie Ronnie Bell (2-24-1) who would cash in a score in Aiyuk's absence. It became clear that San Francisco's coaching staff values Jennings in his current role, limiting any potential fantasy upside ahead of a Week 4 matchup against Arizona.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: More snaps await Thursday

Jennings is expected to be in line for more playing time in Thursday's game with Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) inactive for the contest, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Receiver Deebo Samuel, tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey are likely to rank as the top priorities in the Niners passing game Week 3, but the absence of Aiyuk at least opens up more opportunities for Jennings and Ronnie Bell to play alongside Samuel in two- and three-wide sets. While serving as the 49ers' No. 3 wideout in the first two games of the season, Jennings has handled 33 percent and 48 percent snap shares between Weeks 1 and 2 while accruing a 2-51-0 receiving line on four targets.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Gains 51 yards in win

Jennings had two receptions (on three targets) for 51 yards in Sunday's 30-23 win over the Rams.

Jennings finished second in receiving yards for the 49ers after being held catch-less Week 1. The 26-year-old made a key play on one of his two receptions when he wrestled the ball away from his defender, turning the play into a 31-yard gain instead of an interception for quarterback Brock Purdy. Despite his strong play Sunday, Jennings is unlikely to see enough targets to warrant consideration outside of deeper formats against the Giants on Thursday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Finishes with no receptions

Jennings was held catchless (on one target) in Sunday's 30-7 win over the Steelers.

The 49ers had little use for its supporting cast after Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk carried the offense to a comfortable victory. Jennings wound up seeing the field for 32 percent of the offense's plays, but that number should go up in games that are more competitive than Sunday's blowout. Jennings' next chance to record his first catch of the season will come in a road matchup against the Rams on Sunday.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Signs his one-year tender

The 49ers re-signed Jennings to a one-year, $940,000 contract Monday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Jennings signed the dotted line Monday in order to get on the field for the start of the 49ers' offseason workout program this week. The seventh-round pick in 2020 has developed into a key member of San Francisco's offense as the third wideout and slot man. He has 59 catches for 698 yards and six touchdowns over the last two seasons.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Filled slot role in 2022

Jennings finished with 35 receptions (56 targets) for 416 yards and a touchdown in 16 regular-season games with San Francisco this season.

Jennings saw his offensive usage rise as the 49ers' slot receiver in his sophomore campaign. However, the 6-foot-3 wideout was unable to break through as a fantasy asset due to a lack of touchdowns. Jennings is scheduled to become a free agent this upcoming offseason, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him stay in San Francisco after carving out a solid role this year.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Ready for divisional round

Jennings (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's divisional-round game versus the Cowboys, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Jennings operated under practice restrictions Wednesday and Thursday due to an ankle injury, but it won't impact his ability to suit up for the second round of the playoffs. With Deebo Samuel available the last two games, Jennings has moved back to a complementary role behind Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, gathering in three of seven targets for 51 yards during that span.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Will be limited Wednesday

Jennings (ankle) will be a limited participant during Wednesday's practice, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Jennings tweaked his ankle during the 49ers' wild-card win over Seattle this past weekend and was deemed day-to-day by head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but it's a positive sign to see him at least get some work in during Wednesday's practice. Jennings will have two more opportunities to log a full session before San Francisco needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's wild-card matchup against Dallas.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Remains limited Thursday

Jennings (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

As he did Wednesday, giving Jennings just one more chance to get back to all activity before the 49ers potentially hand him a designation for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Cowboys. In 17 appearances this season (including playoffs), he's been targeted at least twice on every occasion, which likely is what he'll be in store for this weekend, if active, with fellow wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk available to the offense.
