Jets' Jordan Whitehead: Career-best 89 tackles in 2022
Whitehead totaled a career-high 89 tackles (58 solo) to go with two interceptions and eight passes defensed in 2022.
The physical safety played in all 17 games in his first season with the Jets, and he was a key cog in one of the league's stingiest secondaries. Whitehead has one more year left on his contract, so he's expected to reprise the starting strong safety role for Gang Green in 2023.

Jets' Jordan Whitehead: Will play Sunday
Whitehead (hamstring) is active Sunday against the Dolphins, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Whitehead appeared on the team's injury report Wednesday and closed out the week with limited practices. The fifth-year safety's ability to suit up should be a boon for the team's secondary and also help them play spoiler to the Dolphins' playoff chances.

Jets' Jordan Whitehead: Availability up in the air Week 18
Whitehead (hamstring) is considered questionable to play Sunday against the Dolphins.
Whitehead popped up on Wednesday's injury report with a hamstring injury, which left him limited for each practice leading up to Sunday's regular-season finale. The fifth-year safety has recorded a career-high 85 tackles, seven passes defended and two interceptions across 16 games this season. With fellow starter Lamarcus Joyner (hip) already ruled out and Ashtyn Davis (ankle) questionable to play, it will be worth monitoring Whitehead's status on the Jets' final inactives list released 90 minutes ahead of Sunday's 1 pm E.T. kickoff.

Jets' Jordan Whitehead: Huge outing in tight loss
Whitehead recorded 11 tackles (eight solo) and one pass defended in Sunday's 27-22 defeat against the Vikings.
Whitehead notched his best all-around performance of the season, posting his seventh pass defended of 2022 while also eclipsing double-digit tackles for the first time. The starting strong safety is now tied for third on the Jets in passes defended and second in tackles (68), though he still sits far behind cornerback Sauce Gardner (15) and leading tackler C.J. Mosley (116) in these respective categories. Nevertheless, Whitehead figures to play an important role against both the pass and the run during Week 14's road matchup in Buffalo.
