Matt Wile: Waived from practice squad
Wile was released from the Lions' practice squad Saturday.
Wile was signed to the team's practice squad on Nov. 6 as insurance in the event that Sam Martin (abdomen) was unavailable for Week 10. However, Martin appears ready to go, allowing the Lions to use their practice squad space for other purposes. Wile has already been a part of a number of teams in the 2019 season, including the Vikings, Falcons and Lions.

Matt Wile: Lands on Detroit's practice squad
Wile (quadriceps) signed with the Lions' practice squad Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.
The 27-year-old was waived with an injury settlement by the Falcons in mid-October, but he appears to have recovered from the quad injury. Wile may serve as the team's practice punter while Sam Martin nurses an abdominal injury, and he could make his way to the active roster should the injury linger.

Wile (quadriceps) will not play in Atlanta's Week 5 matchup against the Cardinals, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Atlanta is now down to "Plan C" at punter for Sunday, as starter Matt Bosher (groin), too, will miss the road trip to Arizona after landing on injured reserve Oct. 5. The Falcons seem to be leaning on Kasey Redfern as a replacement. Redfern may eventually also be fielding snaps as holder, as it has been the team's tendency over recent seasons to have the punter take on that responsibility.

After punting for Atlanta in Week 3 while Matt Bosher was nursing a groin injury, Wile was retained on the practice squad as a precautionary measure heading into Sunday's game against the Titans.
