O'Shaughnessy (undisclosed) had a tryout with the Browns on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
O'Shaughnessy signed a one-year contract with the Bears in April, but he was released Aug. 30 with a non-football illness designation. Now apparently back to full health, O'Shaughnessy is working to find a new team. The Browns placed Jesse James (biceps) on IR last Tuesday and currently only have two tight ends on their active roster.

The Bears released O'Shaughnessy on Tuesday, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
O'Shaughnessy appeared to be candidate to secure a depth role in Chicago's right end room, but he ultimately couldn't earn a spot on the initial 53-man roster. Once the Bears open up further roster spots, it's possible O'Shaughnessy could end up rejoining the team. At the moment, Cole Kmet and Ryan Griffin are the only tight ends on Chicago's roster.

O'Shaughnessy appeared a fair candidate to secure a depth role in Chicago's tight end room, but he ultimately couldn't earn a spot on the team's initial 53-man roster due to an unknown aliment. The 2015 fifth-round pick appeared in 22 games over the past two seasons with Jacksonville, catching 52 of 72 targets for 506 yards, so once healthy, he figures to garner attention in free agency.

O'Shaughnessy will likely slot in as the third tight end on the Bears' depth chart behind Cole Kmet and Ryan Griffin. It's unlikely he'll be selected in most fantasy drafts. However, he was on his way to a career year last year with the Jaguars, when he caught 24 passes for 244 yards in seven games. Should he be forced into a prominent role at some point, he could be a capable receiver. Otherwise, it would appear that most of his snaps will see him function as a blocker.

O'Shaughnessy joins a tight end room led by Cole Kmet alongside Ryan Griffin and Jesper Horsted. The former was limited to just seven appearances with Jacksonville last season, as he dealt with hip and ankle injuries, but he now appears fully healthy. In those seven contests, O'Shaughnessy secured 24 of 34 targets for 244 yards, but he was held without a touchdown.

O'Shaughnessy only appeared in seven games during the 2021 season, missing the last two weeks with a hip injury and previously sitting out with an ankle issue.
