Sammis Reyes: Heading to Chicago's practice squad
The Bears signed Reyes to their practice squad Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Reyes was given the opportunity to join Chicago's practice squad Tuesday, after he recently completed a successful workout for the team, per Biggs. The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder suited up for 11 games in 2021 with Washington, but he ultimately failed to record any statistics in that span. He'll now serve as an emergency depth option should any of the Bears' tight ends miss time.

Sammis Reyes: Works out in Indy
The Colts brought in Reyes (undisclosed) for a workout Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Reyes looks to be healthy again after being waived with an injury settlement from the Commanders' injured reserve in August. The tight end played 144 of his 177 total snaps on special teams over 11 games during his rookie campaign with Washington last year, and he could likely serve as a potential depth option on Indianapolis' practice squad this season.

Reyes appeared in 11 games with the Commanders last season, mostly chipping in on special teams, but he failed to record any stats. Once he is healthy he'll be free to pursue opportunities with a new team.

It's a promising sign for Reyes after he sat out drills this offseason as he dealt with soreness in his leg. What's less promising for him is that the Commanders added another tight end, Cole Turner, in the fifth round of this year's draft. Reyes has yet to see an NFL target and will have to impress to make the roster in 2022.

Reyes (hamstring) didn't participate in Washington's practices this offseason while dealing with leg discomfort, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Reyes dealt with a variety of injuries during his rookie campaign with Washington in 2021, and he was ultimately sidelined with a hamstring injury in the team's regular-season finale. It's not clear if the same injury is what caused him to miss the entirety of the team's offseason program, but he'll likely need more recovery time heading into training camp.

Reyes was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list before Tuesday's matchup with the Eagles but didn't play due to the concussion, but he's now apparently clear of the concussion protocols. Now that he's healthy, he should work as Washington's No. 3 tight end behind Ricky Seals-Jones and John Bates.

Football Team's Sammis Reyes: Activated, but won't play Tuesday
Washington activated Reyes (illness, concussion) from the reserve/COVID-19 list and ruled him out for Tuesday's game against the Eagles with a concussion.
Though he was one of three players to clear the NFL's COVID-19 protocol hours before Tuesday's 7 p.m. ET kickoff, Reyes won't be available after suffering a concussion in the Week 14 loss to the Cowboys. Before going on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Reyes wasn't able to practice in any fashion, so he'll first need to get back on the field in some capacity and gain clearance from an independent neurologist before getting the green light to play. With Reyes out, fullback Alex Armah will be available as the lone reserve option at tight end behind John Bates in the event normal starter Ricky Seals-Jones (illness) -- who is listed as questionable -- is unable to play Tuesday.
