Jets' Pita Taumoepenu: Finds a new opportunity
Taumoepenu signed a contract with the Jets on Tuesday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Taumoepenu last played an NFL game with the Broncos in 2021. The 29-year-old was a sixth-round selection of the 49ers in 2017 and has yet to find a consistent role with a franchise. He'll now work to do that with New York in camp.

Taumoepenu was restored from the Broncos' practice squad COVID-19 list Tuesday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
Taumoepenu has appeared in one game for the Broncos this season. Now that he's healthy, he'll try to earn another chance on the active roster before the 2021 campaign comes to a close.

This looks like a pure depth grab here with San Francisco already loaded along the front four. That said, Taumoepenu has some athleticism, notching a 4.67 in the 40-yard dash. He is undersized, even at defensive end, checking in at 6-foot-1 and just 243 pounds. His lack of size coupled with San Francisco's depth up front means that it could be awhile before Taumoepenu sees the field.
